GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Colorado Mesa University head swimming and diving coach Geoff Hanson announced his recruiting class for the 107-18 season Tuesday (Nov. 29).

“I am extremely excited to welcome these 21 student-athletes to the CMU Swimming & Diving Family next fall,” said Hanson. “In getting to know each of these swimmers and divers during the recruiting process, it became clear that they are not only talented athletes who will help us take our program to the next level, more importantly they are also quality people and students who fit in with the goals and ideals that we are striving to achieve. The common thread that many of them expressed in choosing CMU, was the sense of team and family that they felt while visiting campus which speaks volumes about the current team and their commitment to the future of the program. Colorado Mesa University Swimming & Diving has taken a big step forward with the signing of these 21 outstanding individuals.”

Colorado Mesa will host the A3 Performance Invite this Thursday through Saturday (Dec. 1-3).

“I am extremely happy to have committed to CMU today! I chose CMU for many reasons. The first reason is the class size. This was very important to me when looking for a college, and CMU has the class sizes I am looking for. The next reason is the academic degree I was looking for. I plan on getting my bachelor’s degree in Nursing, then becoming a Pararescueman for the United States Air Force. CMU has a phenomenal Nursing program that interests me and I am excited to follow that career path. The next reason is the diving program. After chatting with Coach Pearsall, I fell in love with the program that he is running. A dryland regiment is also very important, and CMU has just the right setup I am looking for. The final reason why I chose CMU was the diving Coach. After doing some research, and after being told by Coach Pearsall himself, I was highly impressed by his success in the sport of diving; as well as his success as a Coach. I am grateful and honored to say that I will be attending CMU as a Maverick.”

Quinn Poppert – Denver, Colo.

“I am excited to join the Mavericks dive team and am happy about my choice to commit.”
