Tickets for the 2014 American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships are now on sale for the meet which runs from Feb. 19 – 22 at Ralph Wright Natatorium in Louisville, Ky.
Carlyle Blondell of Louisville and Christine Pedersen were named AAC Swimmers of the Week in the final set of weekly awards to be given out this season.
LSU topped Rice, Tulane and host Houston in the Quad meet, each team’s last competition before conference championships. Kara Kopcso won three times for LSU, while Rice’s Rachel Moody broke a school record in the 100 breast and narrowly missed the 200 breast record as well.
Lindsay Vrooman went back-to-back to open the meet, winning the 1000 free and 200 free to set the tone for Indiana’s wins. Eric Ress won three on the men’s side to overcome Louisville’s sprint dominance.
The men’s swimmers and divers won the Louisville talent show this week by getting in touch with their animal natures for a sketch that ranged from Lion King tributes to a zoo animal overthrow.

The University of Houston Swimming and Diving team returns to action this weekend to host Rice, Tulane and LSU in quad-meet action on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, at the CRWC Natatorium.
Tanja Kylliainen (above) and her teammate Joao de Lucca have both earned Swimmer of the Week honors from the AAC.
Tanja Kylliainen was all over the in-state rival Wildcats, winning the 200 fly, 200 back and 200 IM. Joao de Lucca, Kameron Chastain and Kelsi Worrell all won two events apiece for the Cardinals.
The Louisville Cardinals will play host to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, and after a delay will have free pizza for students.
