CLINTON, N.Y. – Lucy ArtMG King and Ellie Sundin all won a pair of events to lift the Colgate women’s swimming & diving team past Hamilton, 131-106, Friday evening at Bristol Pool.

Colgate won nine events in total to knock off the hosts in the Raiders’ final dual before the New Year. Aside from Art, King and Sundin’s victories, Olivia SchlegelAdrienne Hagins and Natalie Hofer all won events on the day.

King notched the first win of the day for the visitors, as they raced to the wall in 1:58.42 in the 200-yard freestyle. Elizabeth Rainey finished just over a second behind her teammate to claim another four team points in the event. The 500-yard freestyle was King’s second victory on the day, as they flew to a near four-second victory with a mark of 5:19.09.

Freestyle events were generous for the Raiders against the Continentals, as Art’s first win of the day came in the 50-yard freestyle. She got to the wall in just 24.38 for the quickest time and was trailed by less than a second from teammate, Brooke Garretson. Just like King, Art’s second victory of the day was in another distance of the freestyle, as she was the victor at 100 yards. Her pace of 53.14 was the best of the race and helped the Raiders to another nine points.

Sundin was nothing less than dominant in her two victories. She totaled a score of 269.50 in the one-meter dive to win by over 70 points, then followed it up with another commanding victory in the three-meter dive. She put up a score of 249.45 in her encore performance, which was good enough to win by more than 50 points.

Schlegel was victorious in the 200-yard IM when she touched the wall in 2:14.28. It earned nine points in the team total and Meg Erickson added another four when she finished just moments behind her teammate for second place with a time of 2:14.65.

Adrienne Hagins’ victory was in the middle of the Raiders’ six-race winning streak midway through the dual, as she had the quickest time in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched the wall first at 1:00.08 and was just .45 in front of fellow Raider Alexandra Mehos, who claimed second.

Hofer secured the final win of the day for Colgate and she notched it in the 100-yard breaststroke. She had the top time by a margin of .28 with a pace of 1:08.72.

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Colgate men’s swimming and diving team used a pair of event wins from Jack Schurtz-Ford and Owen McCabe to cruise past Hamilton, 131-96, Friday afternoon at Bristol Pool.

McCabe won both of his events on the diving platform, while Schurtz-Ford claimed victories in the freestyle and backstroke disciplines. When the dust had settled on the day, there were eight different race wins for the visitors to help them roll past the Continentals.

Schurtz-Ford authored the Raiders’ second winning performance of the day when he had the fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle. He claimed the victory with a mark of 1:47.06 and Matthew Szypula helped Colgate hold the top-2 spots, as he came in second at 1:48.54. The second winning effort for Schurtz-Ford came in the 100-yard backstroke thanks to his blazing pace of 52.82. His time in the event was more than two seconds clear of the next competitor.

McCabe owned the diving events on the day to give Colgate another 18 team points. He had the winning total on the one-meter dive with a score of 203.40, then followed it up with 243.80 points on the three-meter dive to complete the perfect day on the platform.

Szypula’s strong day also included an event win thanks to his effort in the 500-yard freestyle. He got to the wall first thanks to his race of 4:55.61, which was a few seconds clear of teammate, JD Suarez.

Another individual event victory came from Peyton Wray, who had the top time in the 1000-yard freestyle. He touched the wall in 10:17.31 to mark an eight-second win with fellow Raider, Zack Berner, behind him in second place.

Ryan Jee showed off his talent in the IM, as he was victorious in the 200-yard event. His time of 1:58.58 marked a four-second margin at the top and Raiders filled the next two slots, as Morgan Cecil and Wray helped the visitors claim 16 team points in the race.

Timothy Brooks also had a top time for Colgate thanks to his showing in the 100-yard freestyle. He just slipped past teammate Jack Lira with a time of 48.62 to claim the win by a .25 gap.
