Claire Curzan on 100 Back: “Hopefully this year, maybe next year, chasing the 47 Barrier”

2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Claire Curzan defended her NCAA title in the 100 back last night, touching in 48.23, the 2nd fastest performance in history. Coming into this season, Curzan said her goal was to break the 49-second barrier, which she has done in great fashion multiple times now, and is feeling spoiled because of it.

The 2020 Olympian is excited to get back to work now and, hopefully, in the coming months, look to break the 48-second barrier to become the first woman to dip into 47-second territory.

Love Claire. She is doing great. Agree that we need to bring back B Finals. Best meet of the year just doesn’t seem the same.
