Caspar Corbeau set new Dutch and World Cup Records in the final of the men’s 100 breaststroke tonight, soaring to a time of 55.55. He shaved 0.24 seconds off Arno Kamminga‘s old Dutch mark of 55.79, which he had missed by a whisker in prelims as he notched a time of 55.80, and knocked 0.06 seconds from Cameron van der Burgh‘s World Cup standard that had stood since 2009.
This is Corbeau’s fourth Dutch record of the World Cup, having set the 50 breaststroke record at both of the previous stops, dropping his time down to 25.52, and the 100 IM record with a 51.78 in the heats this morning. He now owns the national record in two of the three breaststroke events in short course meters, and will have the opportunity to grab the final one in the 200 breast on Saturday. He has been within a quarter second of Kamminga’s standard of 2:01.43 twice already on this tour.
His swims today saw him knock nearly seven tenths of a second off his previous best of 56.24, and vaults him up into the all-time top 10, knocking out Kamminga.

Additionally, his swim tonight was the 10th fastest in history.
Corbeau is becoming a force to contend with on the international stage in the breaststroke events. He took bronze at both the 2024 Olympics and the 2025 World Championships, as well as silver at the lightly-attended 2024 World Championships. With the sprint speed he has showcased here in North America and a best of 59.03 in the long course 100, he could be a threat in the shorter distances at Europeans this summer.
Corbeau later placed 6th in the 100 IM, just missing his best time of 51.78 from this morning in 51.86. He just missed his new Dutch Record in the event, but was under the previous record, set by Robin van Aggele in 2009.
Corbeau still has the 50 breast and 200 breast left to swim this weekend, and will be looking to remain in the top ten in the overall standings. He ranked 4th after the final stop, but thanks to his performances tonight sees himself in 3rd position with two days to go.
