Mathias Oh from the King Aquatic Club near Seattle has verbally committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

Oh is a freestyler and a butterflier, who should immediately help Arizona’s cause at both the conference and national level. In yards, his best times are:

  • 50 free – 20.76
  • 100 free – 45.59
  • 200 free – 1:39.56
  • 100 fly – 47.47
  • 200 fly – 1:45.09
  • 200 IM – 1:51.07

Oh also swam the butterfly leg on KING’s 15-16 National Age Group Record holding 200 meter medley relay in 2013. Though the headlines came in the summer after his sophomore year, the really exciting part are the improvements he has made in the year since. His improvements in just one season in the above events:

  • 50 free -1.13 seconds
  • 100 free -1.51 seconds
  • 200 free -4.59 seconds
  • 100 fly -1.32 seconds
  • 200 fly -3.06 seconds
  • 200 IM -6.53 seconds

Oh is already within scoring range in the 200 fly at the Pac-12 level. If he can improve the same amount in the next two years that he did in the last year in any of the above events, he’ll be an NCAA qualifier as well as a freshman.
