SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant University Women’s Swimming and Diving Program defeated the Marist Red Foxes 165-135 on Senior Day at the Chace Athletic Center. The Bulldogs honored seniors Katherine BaileyAvery BischoffJill CarlineSarah FalderMarcella FigueroaMolly GordonAurelie HonsbergerAnna JacksonHannah King, and Makayla Pearce following competition.

COACH CAMERON’S COMMENTS

“What a way to send off our seniors. Getting wins on both the men’s and women’s sides made Senior Day even more special and really showed the hard work and dedication this team puts in every day, especially from our seniors over the past four years. We’re so proud of all of our Bulldogs, and it’s going to be a tough goodbye to this senior group in February”

HOW IT HAPPENED
 

  • Megan Beasley and Molly Gordon finished first and second in both the 1 and 3 meter dive. Beasley finished first in both events tallying a score of 273.90 in the 1 meter and 289.35 in the 3 meter. Gordon put together scores of 248..18 in the 1 Meter and 257.85 in the 3 meter.
  • Clara Steen, Jocie Niemczyk, Sofia Doersch, and Marcella Figueroa helped the Bulldogs take home the top spot in the women’s 200 yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:46.61.
  • Makayla Pearce and Anna Jackson posted top three finishes for Bryant in the women’s 1,000 yard freestyle. Pearce won the event with a time of 10.36.98 and Jackson placed third with a time of 11:01.14.
  • Bryant went 2-3-4 in the women’s 200 yard freestyle as Jill CarlineHannah King, and Auerlie Honsberger all finished in succession.
  • The Black and Gold won outright in the 100 yard backstroke as Jacqui FoxElise Richardson, and Clara Steen would go 1-2-3.
  • Niemczyk placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.66.
  • Ruby Tonelli took home first place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.29.
  • Figueroa and Kaitlyn Archambeault both record top three times for Bryant in the 50 yard freestyle. Figueroa finished first with a time of 24.34. Archambeault took third with a time of 25.00.
  • Carline and Addison Abreu went 2-3 in the 100 yard freestyle charting times of 54.30 and 54.34 respectively.
  • Martha Sell finished second in the 200 yard back with a time of 2:10.12.
  • Niemczyk clocked a time of 2:24.32 in the 200 yard breaststroke.
  • Bailey and Pearce charted top three finishes in the 500 yard free. Bailey placed first with a time of 5:08.96. Pearce finished third with a time of 5:15.61.
  • Tonelli and Amanda Witkus finished 1-2 in the 100 fly posting times of 56.28 and 58.64.
  • Abreu added a second place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:11.85.
  • A senior led 400 free relay team of Carline, King, Honsberger, and Figueroa placed second with a time of 3:39.55.

The Bulldogs will hit the road to compete at Boston University on Saturday, Jan 24. Meet time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Christopher Buonocore and Lincoln Busa got the scoring started for the Black and Gold after going 1-2 in the 1-meter dive. Buonocore finished first tallied a score of 289.35 while Busa placed second with a score of 211.85.
  • The pair would find similar success in the 3 meter with Buonocore once again taking the top spot with a score of 346.20 and Busa finishing as the runner up with a score of 193.65.
  • Ryan ConnorsNick Austin, Tim Andrews, and Nick Andrews powered Bryant’s 200 yard medley relay to a second place finish with a time of 1:35.78.
  • The Bulldogs secured two top three finishes in the 100 yard freestyle as Raymond Stelmark took home first with a time of 9:49.21 and Patrick Maldonado placed third with a time of 10:02.40.
  • The Black and Gold went 2-3 in the 200 yard free with Valentine Honsberger and Calix Hammett finishing in succession.
  • Zach Proulx won the men’s 100 back with a time of 52.46.
  • Aidan Trenery won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 59.14.
  • Tim Andrews won the men’s 200 yard fly with a time of 1:54.00.
  • Hammett placed second in the 50 free with a time of 21.70.
  • Arthur Newton and Hammett went 1-2 in the 100 yard free. Newton finished first with a time of 47.73 and Hammett placed second with a time of 47.79.
  • Proulx won the 200 yard back with a time of 1:53.88.
  • Trenery and Jack Ferguson went 2-3 in the 200 yard breaststroke. Trenery posted a time of 2:09.36 and Ferguson finished in 2:10.26.
  • Stelmark (4:48.04) and Aiden Acuna Rosa (4:51.34)  finished 2-3 in the 500 yard free.
  • Andrews won the 100 yard fly with a time of 50.58.
  • Trenery won the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:56.55.
  • Hammett, Honsberger, Andrews, and Newton powered the Bulldogs to a second place finish in the 400 yard free relay with a time of 3:10.49.
