Brown adds breaststroker Jacobson

Montana breaststroker Hailey Jacobson has verbally committed to Brown University. Pending full acceptance through the more complex Ivy League application process, Jacobson appears set to join the Bears squad next fall.

Jacobson is an important get for Brown, which will graduate top breaststroker Briana Borgolini after this season. Nabbing Jacobson should help Brown fill Borgolini’s shoes.

Jacobson swims for Missoula Aquatic Club in Montana. Outside of her breaststroke races, she is well-rounded enough to have a shot at scoring in the IM and backstroke races, as well as the 200 free, where she was Montana high school state champion.

Her top times:

100 breast – 1:05.35
200 breast – 2:19.32
200 IM – 2:06.48
400 IM – 4:30.99
100 back – 57.58
200 free – 1:53.85

Keep in mind that most of these times were done last February. Jacobson will compete in her last high school state meet in February of 2014, where she could lower her times further.

With the graduation of Columbia star Katie Meili, the breaststroke races look much more wide open in the Ivy League, and Brown appears to be making a push to take early advantage.
