British Swimming Coach Sentenced For Child Sexual Images

British swim coach Mark Anthony Boyce was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to downloading images of sexual abuse of a child, but he’ll avoid prison time.

The 56-year-old Boyce was arrested six months ago, according to The York Press. Boyce admitted in court to downloading 11,145 images of “the most serious category of child abuse,” as well as more than 133,000 images of lower categories of child abuse. He possessed 114 “extreme pornographic images” and 150 prohibited images of a child.

Boyce was sentenced to 20 months in prison, but that sentence was suspended for two years if he undergoes rehabilitation and doesn’t reoffend the law. Boyce spent six months in custody leading up to his trial. He’ll be placed on a sex offender registry for 10 years.

Police searched Boyce’s home and his workplace in October of 2019, finding images of a man appearing to rape a girl. British police were able to work with their counterparts in both Australia and the United States to identify a 29-year-old man from Arizona: Jesse Anthony Garcia, who has also been arrested and charged with child sexual abuse, according to TessideLive, a British news website. He remains in custody.
