Brazil’s Fernanda Delgado heading to Britain to train with Ruta Meilutyte

Brazilian sprinter Fernanda Delgado is joining the parade of Brazilian’s heading every which direction this season, as she’ll move to Great Britain to train at the Plymouth School with coach Jon Rudd, according to Blog do Coach.

At 16, Delgado is one of the young risers in the next generation of Brazilian swimming. She competed in the short course Jose Finkel Trophy this past weekend, qualifying 14th out of prelims in the 50 free before scratching out of the final.

She’ll now head to Great Britain to train with another young British import, Ruta Meilutyte. Delgado will join the Lithuanian breaststroker at the Plymouth School.

Delgado’s longtime coach Eduardo Morini announced the move over Facebook, thanking Delgado for six years and wishing her luck at her new training home. You can read the full Facebook post in the Blog do Coach story (in Portuguese) here.
