BOTR Sprint Freestyler Molly Lo Sends Verbal to Duke for Fall 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

NCSAs finalist Molly Lo has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Duke University beginning in the fall of 2027. Lo was ranked a “Best of the Rest” recruit for sprint freestyle in the girls’ high school class of 2027.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Duke University! Thank you for the endless support from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches, and a huge thank you to Coach Charlie and Coach Kline. Thank you to Coach Brian and the entire Duke Swimming & Diving staff for this amazing opportunity. GO DUKE!!”

A junior at Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania, Lo has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. Lo also currently trains year-round with Suburban Seahawks Club, where she primarily specializes in sprint free and back.

Lo turned in a series of strong performances at the 2024 NCAP Invitational last season, logging four new personal best times. She was the runner-up in the 50 free (23.38) and placed 8th in the 100 back (56.87) after posting best times of 23.07  and 56.02, respectively, during prelims. She also contested the 100 free (51.16 – PB) and 200 back (2:04.12 – PB).

At the 2025 Middle Atlantic Senior Championship a few months later, Lo logged another string of fast swims. She won the 50 free (22.62 – PB) and placed 14th in the 200 free (1:53.12) after turning in a best time of 1:52.25 during prelims. She also raced the 100 back (55.32 – PB) and posted a lifetime best in the 50 back (26.03) as the leadoff on the 200 medley relay.

Lo also holds a best time of 50.55 in the 100 free, which she set at the 2025 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championship.

Over the summer, Lo competed at the NCSA Summer Championships (LCM), where she earned a second swim in four of her individual events. She placed 2nd in the 50 free (25.73 – PB), 8th in the 50 back (29.84 – PB), 11th in the 100 free (57.16 – PB) and 31st in the 100 back (1:06.24) after logging a best time of 1:06.02 in the prelims session. She also contested the 200 free (2:12.90 – PB), but did not make it out of the morning heats in that event.

Best Times SCY

  • 50 free – 22.62
  • 100 free – 50.55
  • 200 free – 1:52.25
  • 100 back – 55.32

A Division I program, Duke competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference against the likes of UVA, Stanford and NC State. At this season’s conference championships, the Duke women placed 8th out of 15 teams.

To earn a second swim at the 2026 ACCs, it took times of 22.56/48.91/1:46.88 in the 50/100/200 free and 52.61 in the 100 back, putting Lo outside the cutoff in each of her top events. On the team itself, she would currently rank 3rd in the 50 free, 8th in the 100 back and 9th in the 100 free through this point in the season, bringing some added depth to the roster.

With another full season to go before Lo joins the team, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out by the time she arrives in Durham.

Currently set to join Lo in Duke’s class of 2031 are Sofia Oliveira, Nola Meekins and Lila Sherman, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.
