The Eagles combined for 24 race wins, sweeping 10 events across the event’s entirety.
The women’s 200 medley relay of Courtney Watts, Savannah Branon, Kaitlyn McMorrow, and Elizabeth Oliphant began the winning after recording a time of 1:44.85, followed by the men’s relay of Evan Tack, Darien Betances, Lucas Bailey, and Matt Lang, clocking a 1:30.83 to win the men’s 200 medley relay.
Other highlights from the first portion of the meet included Ryan Mendlick setting a new personal best time of 1:41.10 in the men’s 200 free to win the race, and Evan Tack winning his first career race, taking home first place in the men’s 100 back after swimming a 50.00.
On the diving boards, Alexiya Downer scored a 245.18 in the 1-meter event to earn her first collegiate victory. Following her were sweeping victories in the 200 back (Courtney Watts and Jonah Nathanson), 200 breast (Allie Donkar and Sirui Wang), 500 free (Julienne Saliou and Nick Fabian), and 100 fly (Kaitlyn McMorrow and Lucas Bailey).
The Eagles concluded the event with wins from Julienne Saliou (2:07.61) in the women’s 200 IM, Evan Tack (1:54.24) in the men’s 200 IM, and both 400 free relays.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team fell to Boston College on Saturday at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. The Minutewomen dropped their dual meet against the Eagles, 186-111, while the Minutemen faltered, 197-99.
Both the Minutewomen and Minutemen combined for five gold medals on the day. Freshmen Flora Klimesch and Hudson Bawduniak earned first place finishes in their collegiate debut, while junior Beren Cakiroglu, sophomore Maria Grishaeva and senior Sammy Quigg picked up the gold on the day in their respective events.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
The Minutewomen totaled 13 top-three finishes on the day to go along, while collecting three gold medals.
Klimesch began the individual events with a first-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle in her collegiate debut, recording a time of 10:28.91. Cakiroglu earned the silver in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.24.
In the 100 backstroke, Grishaeva sat atop the podium, finishing with a time of 57.57. Junior Lindsay Burbage picked up the bronze medal after swimming a time of 1:05.01 in the 100 breaststroke.
The 200 butterfly saw sophomore Hannah Schoenauer place third with a time of 2:08.98, while fellow classmate Courtney Tedesco claimed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.37.
Cakiroglu and Grishaeva grabbed their second medals of the day, with Cakiroglu claiming the gold in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.59 and Grishaeva earning silver in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.09.
Burbage also garnered her second medal, taking home the silver in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.17, while Klimesch secured herself the bronze in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.78, marking her second medal of the afternoon.
Sophomore Karinne Everly registered a time of 58.06 in the 100 butterfly to place second in the event.
In the relays, the 200 medley relay team of Cakiroglu, freshman Kate Baranova, Schoenauer and freshman Anna McCarthy took second with a combined time of 1:49.25. The 400 freestyle relay team of Cakiroglu, Schoenauer, Everly and Tedesco finished second with a time of 3:34.30
Men’s Swimming & Diving
The Minutemen tallied nine top-three finishes, adding two gold medals on the day.
Sophomore Zach Szabo swam into third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.31. Bawduniak and Eli Panachyda took first and third, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke, as Bawduniak recorded a time of 56.74 and Panachyda had a time of 58.10.
Quigg finished the 50 freestyle in second with a time of 20.91, before claiming the gold medal in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.98.
Sophomore Chase Keeler finished third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.27. Bawduniak and Panachyda placed second and third, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke. Bawduniak recorded a time of 2:06.23, while Panachyda swam a time of 2:06.50.
The 500 freestyle saw junior Jude Boukarroum take third with a time of 4:46.99, as Keeler closed out the individual events with a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.14.
During the relay events, the team of Szabo, Hudson Bawduniak, junior Aydin Erkan and Quigg swam a combined time of 1:32.62 to place second in the 200 medley relay. The 400 freestyle relay team consisting of freshman Sota Kawahata, Szabo, freshman Macek Vandermolen and Quigg earned third with a combined time of 3:07.05
On The Boards
In the one-meter dive, sophomore Danielle Guerin and senior Shreeya Sinha took second and third, respectively. Guerin totaled a 235.58 to grab the silver, while Sinha scored a six-dive total of 234.60 to earn the bronze.
For the Minutemen, sophomore Alex Kreidler secured second with a six-dive total of 284.10.

Both the men’s and women’s swim team will return to the pool for the Justin Jennings Invitational, hosted by Colgate, in Hamilton, New York, on Friday, October 10, through Saturday, October 11. Friday’s events begin at 4 p.m., with Saturday kicking off at 10 a.m.
