Zach Stevens

Zach Stevens
Zach Stevens is a freshman at northern California powerhouse, the University of California, Berkeley. Although he’s undeclared on his major, his intended major is Political Economy, and the class he’s most looking forward to is Econ 1. Swimming since the age of seven, the 5’11” breaststroker is a High School All-American breaststroker from Arroyo Grande High School. In 2013 he swam the 13th fastest 100 breaststroke time in high school swimming. After considering other universities including Northwestern, Arizona and Michigan, he told The Tribune that Cal was a “pretty clear cut choice.” He realized that he had the talent to be a Division I swimmer from a young age – in 2006 he broke the 10&U National Age Group record in the 50m breaststroke.

UC Berkeley
Stevens is in his freshman season as a Cal Bear. He went a best time in the 200 breaststroke at a dual meet between Cal and Stanford.

National Competition
In his senior year at Arroyo Grande, Stevens won the CIF Southern Section Division II title in the 100 breaststroke. As a 16-year-old he qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
