Prudence Rooker

Prudence is the youngest child of Greg and Evangeline Rooker. Prudence grew up around the pool with her siblings in Forest Grove, Oregon. She has swum competitively for 13 years. She is the fifth collegiate swimmer in her family. Her brother, Gabriel, swam at LSU, her sister, Sharon, swims at Stevens Institute of Technology, and her oldest brothers, Daniel and Jonathon, swam at Kenyon.

Club

Prudence was a standout member the Forest Grove High School varsity swim team setting records in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 back, 100 fly, 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. She was the OSAA state champion in the 100 breaststroke her junior and senior years. Prudence was also a great student as part of the National Honor Society and earned a Honors Diploma. For her efforts in the pool and in the classroom she was given the United States Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award. As an accomplished artist, Prudence was named the Student of the Year for the studio arts department. Prudence represented her USA swimming club team, the Tualatin Hills Swim Club, competing at Junior Nationals four consecutive years and also at the USA Swimming Summer Nationals in 2011. She was part of seven top 10 relays on the junior national stage. Prudence was an OSI state champion in multiple events by the time she graduated in 2014.

College

2014-2015

Prudence came to Lady Flames as a College Swimming top 100 recruit. She made an immediate impact for the Liberty in the breaststroke and IM events. She posted her first collegiate event victories in the 100 breaststroke as well as a pool record in the 200 IM at the home meet versus Richmond on Oct 31st. Prudence went on to earn five individual event victories for her freshman season as well as racing in multiple medley and sprint free relays. At the 2015 CCSA Championship, Prudence earned her first conference podium finishes part of Liberty’s second place 200 and 400 medley relays. Individually she placed 6th in the 200 IM with a lifetime best time in prelims, 2:02.83 and placed 4th in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:02.55. On the final day of the meet she placed 4th in the 200 breast and swam a best time in prelims, 2:19.62. Prudence helped the Lady Flames to earn a second place overall finish in the CCSA for the 2015 season.

Personal

Prudence is an extremely hard worker and pushes her teammates in the pool and the weight room. She leads the team in strict-form pull-ups with a season max of 16. She has not decided on a major yet, but is on track to graduate in May 2018.
