Jasmine Mau

Jasmine Mau
Jasmine Mau is a versatile swimmer from Honolulu, Hawaii. Born Nov. 25, 1995 Mau is a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley. After visiting other universities including USC and Texas Mau found Cal to be her perfect fit academically and athletically. Although she’s undeclared on her major, she brought a little bit of her true Hawaiian culture to northern California – her favorite things outside of the pool include surfing and playing the ukulele. Mau attended Punahou School in Honolulu, and she swam at Kamehameha Swim Club where she’s been training since she was only 8 years old. Proving her versatilty Mau had Summer National Championship cuts in the 100m and 200m freestyle, the 50m and 100m backstroke as well as the 50m and 100m butterfly. Although she’s an impressive freestyle and backstroke swimmer, her butterfly is the stroke that really stands out. At her senior state meet, Mau not only broke the Hawaiian state record in the 100 butterfly, but she broke the National Independent High School Record in 52.23. Known as “Jazzy” by friends and family, Mau was athletic from a young age. Before focusing solely on swimming she played a handful of sports including basketball, soccer, golf, volleyball, and water polo.

UC Berkeley
As a freshman Mau picked up a sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly at the Pac 12 Championships. She followed that up by finishing in another sixth place in the 100 backstroke, and touched third in the 200 butterfly.

National Competition
While attending Punahou School, Mau was a 14-time NISCA/Speedo All-American made up of two team and 12 individual honors. She won 13 Hawaii State Championships in a multitude of events including the butterfly, 200 IM and 500 freestyle. She was named her high school’s Female Athlete of the Year on three separate occasions, and before even graduating the school inducted Mau to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor. In 2014 she broke the National Independent High School Record in the 100 butterfly.
