After graduating from Mill Creek High School as a five-time high school All-American Powell chose to attend the University of Georgia. Powell is currently in his sophomore year and is undecided on his major. He didn’t start competitive swimming until he was a freshman in high school, but instead was a member of his summer league team. Powell was chosen as a member of the Georgia Zone Team two years in a row – a highly selective team chosen by time cuts and is based on a point system.
