SMITHFIELD, R.I.- Katherine Bailey set a new pool record in the 200 yard freestyle on Friday night as the Bryant University Women’s Swimming and Diving Program cruised to a 186-92 victory over the University of Bridgeport. The Bulldogs will be back in action next month at the America East Championships.

“Great way to end the dual meet season with two big wins.  I thought both our teams competed at a high level, and congratulations to Trenery and Bailey for breaking the pool records.  This was a good meet to get us going into championship season coming up in a few weeks.”

The Bulldogs return  to action next month for the 2026 America East Swimming and Diving Championships. Competition will run from Feb 18-21 and will be hosted by VMI.

MITHFIELD, R.I.- Aidan Trenery set a new pool record in the 200 yard breaststroke on Friday night as the Bryant University Men’s Swimming and Diving Program earned a 192-96 victory over the University of Bridgeport. The Bulldogs will be back in action next month at the America East Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trenery won the 200 yard breaststroke, setting a new pool record with a time of 2:03.14.
  • Bryant took the top two sports in the 200 medley relay. The top group was led by Authur Newton, Nick Austin, Tim Andrews, and Calix Hammett, finishing in 1:34.03. The second group of Roman San Juan, Aiden Trenery, Clinton Cupples, and Nick Andrews clocked in at 1:34.24.
  • Raymond Stelmark (9:49.00) and Patrick Maldonado (9:53.19) went 2-3 in the 1,000 free.
  • Newton won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.28.
  • Hammett (51.93) and Zach Proulx (52.04) went 2-3 in the 100 yard back.
  • Nick Austin finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke.
  • T. Andrews, Trenery, and Ryan Connors swept the 200 fly.
  • Hammett and N. Andrews went 1-2 in the 50 free.
  • Hamett and N. Andrews finished second and third in the 100 free.
  • Proulx and Jack Ventre took the top two spots in the 200 back.
  • Stelmark took second in the 500 free.
  • T. Andrews, Connors, and Cupples swept the 100 fly.
  • Trenery and San Juan went 1-2 in the 200 IM.
  • The Bulldogs took first and third in the 400 free relay.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In their final tune-up prior to the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, the University of Bridgeport’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of dual meets at Division I Bryant on Friday night.

Men’s Highlights (Bryant 192, Bridgeport 96)
Freshman Sultanbek Azat delivered another masterful performance for the Purple Knights, capturing the 1000-free in 9:36.56 before adding another victory in the 500-free with a time of 4:39.69. He has now won five races against DI foes over the past two weekends.

Classmate Christian Toussi also enjoyed a strong night in the pool, winning the 100-back in 51.08 and following it up with a first-place finish in the 100-free at 47.36.

Another freshman, Jurica Dragun, secured the top spot in the 100-breast with a time of 56.95. He narrowly missed a second individual win of the meet, finishing runner-up in the 200-breast by just 0.28 seconds.

The Purple Knights continued their success in the relays as well, with the 400-free relay team of Camilo Villalba VeraPacome Sidelski, Toussi and Azat placing second. That quartet finished only a tenth of a second out of first place in a tightly contested race.

Women’s Highlights (Bryant 186, Bridgeport 92)
The Purple Knights finished with three wins on the women’s side and four runner-ups.

Luca Olsen was first with a triumphant swim in the 500-free with a time of 5:34.71, while Patricia Torviso followed close behind in second at 5:39.69.

Ceyda Genç and Anna Forlani delivered a 1-2 finish for Bridgeport in the 100-fly, touching the wall in 1:00.34 and 1:01.39, respectively.

Torviso added another standout performance by winning the 200-IM in a time of 2:22.77. Cristal Margarita Gómez Rodriguez made it a Purple Knights sweep at the top of the podium in that event, placing second in 2:26.62.

Pierina Ferraresi turned in a strong effort of her own in the 100-breast, finishing runner-up by just 0.53 seconds with a time of 1:11.16.

The Purple Knights will compete in their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Feb. 12-15 in Worcester, Mass.
