Today In Swimming History: October 16th, The First Woman Swims Across The English Channel

Today in swimming history Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle became the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926. In doing so, she set the English Channel record and her time stood as the fastest time in the world until 1950.
