ACC and Big Ten Announce Weekly Award Winners

The Florida State men earned both men’s ACC weekly honors this week for their performance against Alabama over the weekend. Tom Neubacher swept the diving events, leading the team to a 1-2 finish on both the 1m and the 3m. Connor Knight was the male swimmer of the week. He won the 100 and 200 butterflies and swam the butterfly in the 200 medley relay that touched out Alabama for the win.

Notre Dame’s Emma Reaney was the ACC women’s swimmer of the week. She won two individual events and two relays over the weekend in a tri-dual meet against Auburn and Indiana. She earned an NCAA b-cut time in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:00.94. Miami’s Kara McCormack swept the 1m and 3m diving, winning the 3m by 60 points, scoring 360.23.

Big Ten Men’s Swimmer of the Week
John Wojciechowski, Michigan
Sr. – Scottsdale, Ariz. – Phoenix Brophy Prep

  • Placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:21.53) and 200-yard medley relay (1:29.33) in the Dennis Stark Relays in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 11
  • Finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (48.59), 100-yard butterfly (48.24), 200-yard medley relay (1:27.85) and 400-yard freestyle relay (2:56.79) in a double dual meet with Auburn and Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 12
  • His 100-yard butterfly time was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
  • His six wins helped lead the Wolverines to a pair of first-place team finishes in the weekend

Big Ten Men’s Diver of the Week
Darian Schmidt, Indiana
Sr. – Bloomington, Ind. – South

  • Placed first in the one-meter (359.55) and three-meter (395.70) diving competitions against California in Berkeley, Calif., on Oct. 11
  • Earned first place in the three-meter (383.78) and second place in the one-meter (357.60) against Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., on Oct. 12
  • All four dives met NCAA Zone Diving standards

Big Ten Men’s Freshman of the Week
Steffen Hillmer, Ohio State
Fr. – Essen, Germany – Helmholtz-Gymnasium Essen

  • Placed first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:01.20) against Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., on Oct. 11
  • Helped his team defeat the Wildcats 176-122

Big Ten Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Ali DeLoof, Michigan
So. – Grosse Pointe, Mich. – Grosse Point South

  • Collected two first-place finishes in the Big Ten dual meet against Minnesota in Minneapolis on Oct. 11
  • Finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (54.54) and 200-yard medley relay (1:41.10), second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:25.53) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (51.75)
  • Her 100-yard backstroke time was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark

Big Ten Women’s Diver of the Week
Sarah McCrady, Minnesota
Sr. – Eagan, Minn. – Eagan High School

  • Placed first in the three-meter (336.15) and fourth in the one-meter (273.60) diving competitions against Michigan in Minneapolis on Oct. 11
  • Both dives qualified for NCAA Zone Diving standards

Freshman of the Week
Amy Bopp, Ohio State
Fr. – Clifton Park, N.Y. – Shenendehowa High School

  • Recorded two first-place finishes in season-opening dual meet against Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., on Oct. 11
  • Finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.23) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.05)
  • Helped lead the Buckeyes to a 195-104 win over the Wildcats
