Auburn & Mizzou Divers Highlight Georgia Tech Diving Invite

ATLANTA, Ga.  — Three event wins and two top-10 efforts in program history highlighted a successful slate of diving for Auburn at the Georgia Tech Invite inside historic McAuley Aquatic Center.

Head diving coach John Fox could not have asked for a better effort on the boards from his group of Tigers. In the first session, all eight of the Auburn divers solidified spots in finals.

On the men’s side, it was Ethan Swart leading the way in the 3-meter competition. Swart (373.70), Ben Wilson (343.20) and Talan Blackmon (330.00) all earned second lists in the evening.

Swart would conjure a massive 392.10 in finals to finish third overall. It also jumped the sophomore to the ninth-best performer in program history. Wilson followed in fourth at 375.15 and Blackmon grabbed fifth at 367.25.

The Auburn women locked out the 1-meter competition. Emily Hallifax (278.55), Maria Faoro (269.75), Kyleigh Kidd (268.95), Chloe Brothers (264.75) and Juliette Landi (259.00) made it a completely Orange and Blue affair in finals.

Hallifax solidified second overall with a sturdy 296.70, with Kidd, Landi, Brothers and Faoro taking spots 5-8.

When it came time for the women to jump up to the 3-meter, freshman Juliette Landi leapfrogged into the program’s No. 6 spot with a 344.25 to qualify first overall. Brothers (253.50), Faoro (243.70) and Hallifax (220.50) also earned second lists.

Landi would not be denied her title, delivering a 335.50 in finals to secure the victory.

Swart was back at it in the men’s 1-meter. A 364.70 earned the Indiana native the No. 1 spot in finals. Blackmon joined his fellow Tiger with a 311.00.

Like Landi, Swart made it a clean sweep on the boards during the session with a 370.25.

As the focus shifted to the tower, Auburn never lost intensity.

Swart’s strong weekend continued, dialing up a stout 354.00 to finish second overall. Blackmon grabbed eighth at 308.75 and Wilson wrapped up 11th with a 270.45.

Hallifax rounded out the meet with one last victory for the Orange and Blue. A specialist on platform, Olympian from France cruised to a win with a 301.30. Brothers wound up seventh at 215.30. Faoro and would finish 14th (188.35) and Landi 16th (180.55).

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri diving concluded a successful run at Georgia Tech Diving Invitational Saturday, as the Tigers reached the podium in five of six events, winning two of them, over the three-day event in Atlanta.

The first day of competition saw Collier Dyer win gold in men’s 3-meter diving with a score of 428.80 followed by Tanner Braunton in second with a 392.20 score. Senior Gabriela San Juan Carmona reached finals in women’s 1-meter diving and concluded with a fourth-place finish (277.65).

Mizzou continued to be strong in the second day of competition, sending four women to 3-meter finals and two men to 1-meter finals. Mia Henninger claimed bronze in women’s 3-meter diving with a 291.95 performance. She was followed by Megan Jolly in fourth (289.85), San Juan Carmona in fifth (288.05) and Jazzelle Eikermann Gregorchuk in sixth (282.30). Braunton picked up another podium finish in men’s 1-meter diving after putting up 362.80 to finish third. Dyer followed in fourth with a score of 351.80

The Tigers closed out the invite with two more podium finishes in platform diving. Braunton won men’s platform diving with a final score of 399.90 while Eikermann Gregorchuk took silver in women’s platform diving after putting up a 289.85 performance. On the men’s platform, Tommaso Zannella finished fourth (339.40) and Dyer came in seventh (319.75). For the women, Henninger took fourth (242.30), San Juan Carmona finished fifth (231.85), Jolly took eighth (212.40) and Olivia Liddle finished twelfth.

UP NEXT

Both the swimming and diving squads will compete in the Mizzou Invite, November 20-22. Competition will begin from inside Mizzou Aquatic Center at 9:30 a.m. for prelims and conclude at 5:30 p.m. for finals. The meet will be streamed on SEC Network+, and admission is free and open to the public.

ATLANTA – Duke diving sophomore Keira Lu earned a pair of top-three placements to headline a weekend of competition for the Blue Devils at the Georgia Tech Diving Invitational.

TOP PERFORMANCES:

  • Lu captured the lone event win of the weekend for Duke with a first-place finish in the women’s 1-meter dive. After punching her ticket to the final via a score of 286.40 in the prelims, the sophomore scored a 304.70 in the final to cement herself atop the field.
  • Lu posted another top-three placement by scoring a 309.10 to finish as the runner-up in Saturday’s women’s 3-meter dive final.
  • The Blue Devil women also saw senior Josie Zillig turn in a formidable showing in the 1-meter dive consolation final, earning a combined score of 257.55 to take third. This marked her second-best scoring performance of the season in the event, trailing only the 274.05 showing at Emory.
  • On the men’s side, Charles Berman led the efforts for Duke with a trio of top-six finishes. His best performance of the weekend came in Saturday’s men’s platform diving final, with the junior taking fifth after scoring a 324.55.

UP NEXT:
Duke will make the short trip up Tobacco Road to Raleigh, where the Blue Devils will compete at the Wolfpack Elite Invitational Nov. 20-21 inside the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center.

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swimming and diving team closed out its home diving invitational with the men’s and women’s platform final.

Elijah Klier led the Jackets in the men’s platform final with two 75+ point dives during his six-dive performance. Klier’s inward 3 1/2 somersault tuck and forward 2 1/2 somersault two-twist pike dives allowed him to soar up the leaderboard and secure a third-place finish in the final.

Klier came within three points from his career-best platform session score of 352.73 He finished ahead of Max Fowler who strung together all his dives from the five and seven-meter marks and dished out a total score of 319.80 to finish sixth.

Ava Gilroy was among the top divers in the women’s platform final, executing a back 2 1/2 somersault tuck dive to register the highest score among Tech divers at 54.60. She placed sixth among the 19 total divers with Elisabeth Rockefeller and Kat Brooker finishing 11th and 15th, respectively.

The Georgia Tech swimming team will compete in its final event of the calendar year at the Georgia Fall Invitational running from Tuesday-Friday in Athens Ga. The diving team’s next outing will be in the dual meet at Alabama on January 10.
