Arena signs South African breaststroker Giulio Zorzi

Arena has added a new athlete to its sponsorship roster – Barcelona bronze medalist Giulio Zorzi.

The South Africa native has been a longtime training partner of Cameron van der Burgh, but in 2013 really started to emerge from van der Burgh’s shadow. He won the 50 breast at Universiade in Kazan, Russia before coming from an outside lane to sneak into the bronze medal spot at the World Championships in Barcelona just a few weeks later.

At 25, Zorzi would appear to still have plenty fast swimming ahead of him. He said in Arena’s press release that he was thrilled to be joining Arena’s lineup.

His full quote, courtesy of Arena:

“I am very proud and honoured to be a part of the arena team,” said Zorzi. “It has been a goal of mine to join their Elite Team for quite some time and it has finally come true. I hope to represent them to the best of my ability and to take the brand forward as the number one brand in swimming.
