Aqua Centurions swimmer Fabio Scozzoli has tied his own European Record in the men’s 50 short course meter breaststroke racing on Saturday at the European Derby meet. He swam a 25.62, which matched his previous best time done at the 2017 European Short Course Championships.

His time is also the best in the world this year by more than two-tenths of a second, beating out Adam Peaty’s 25.85 from the Budapest stop of this series. Peaty, the World Record holder in the long course version of this event, was just 4th in the final in 26.00, but remains the 2nd-ranked swimmer in the world this season.

Scozzoli remains the 3rd-fastest 50 meter breaststroker in short course meters history, behind only Cameron van der Burgh’s World Record of 25.25 and Roland Schoeman’s best of 25.45. Those two South Africans combine to own the top 7 swims in history.
