High School All-American Clare Lawlor has verbally committed to swim for Rutgers University.

“I felt an immediate connection to the team, Coach Petra, and Coach Tracy. I liked the east coast feel while still competing in the Big 10.”

Lawlor is a Illinois high school state championship finalist in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. She has made huge improvements over the last two years, dropping nearly two full seconds in the 50 freestyle and four seconds in the 100 freestyle. With best times of 23.71 in the 50 freestyle and 51.27 in the 100 freestyle, she will add solid depth to the Rutgers Roster.

Lawlor currently swims for Carl Sandburg High School, where she is a senior. She will finish the Illinois state high school season in November and then will switch back to training with the Palos Orland Swim Association.
