Air Force Adds IM’er Jessie McNeil To Class Of 2027

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Jessie McNeil has announced her commitment to swim and study at the United States Air Force Academy, beginning with the upcoming 2023-2024 season. McNeil is finishing off her senior year at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, located in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

“I am so beyond thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the United States Air Force Academy! I want to thank my coaches, family, teammates, and friends for always pushing me to be my best. Go Falcons!”

McNeil trains and competes year-round with the Bluefish Swim Club in Attleboro. She swims a mix of IM and backstroke events, and currently owns a 2023 Futures qualifying time in the 200 IM.

McNeil was recently named the 2023 Swimmer of the Year by her local newspaper for her accomplishments during her senior season. McNeil, a team captain, was the runner-up in the 200 IM at the Massachusetts High School State Championships with a time of 2:08.43. Prior to state, she was the MIAA South Sectionals champion in the event, clocking a best time of 2:07.24.

Over the course of the past short course season, McNeil’s 200 IM has improved by over two seconds, while her 400 IM has come down by over 11 seconds since 2021.

McNeil most recently opened her long course season at Speedo Sectionals in Indianapolis. She earned her highest finish in the 200 IM, where she posted a 2:28.56. She also raced the 400 IM (5:17.92), 200 back (2:31.23), and 100 back (1:09.75), where she was slightly off her best times from last season.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 58.51
  • 200 back – 2:03.38
  • 200 IM – 2:07.24
  • 400 IM – 4:33.13

The United States Air Force Academy is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The women’s team is under the direction of head coach Colleen Murphy, who recently wrapped up her 6th season at the helm of the program. The Air Force women compete in the Mountain West Conference, where they finished 6th out of 9 teams at this year’s conference meet.

McNeil’s best time in the 200 backstroke would have finished near the top of the C-final at the Mountain West Championships this year, meaning she has the chance to make an immediate impact when she arrives. Freshman Kai-min Tsuei was the team’s top performer in the event with a 5th place finish (1:58.13), while junior Corinne Yorkman was next best at 14th (2:01.82).

The Falcons have a large incoming class this fall, featuring Sienna Karp, Catherine Dean, Kristen Lee, Audrey Laganelli, Amber Martin, Sophia Pedersoli, Ryan Mills, Kat Putchinksi, Natalie Gembicki, and Naomi Furman
