Torri Huske Shares Powerful Anecdote on Positive Impact of B-Finals, Calls for Change from CSCAA

2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

Torri Huske won her 2nd individual NCAA title in as many events, touching first in the 50 free in a new pool record of 20.66. After the race, Huske doubled down on the sentiment that B-Finals are a vital part of the NCAA Championships.

In her freshman year, she swam in the 100 free B-Final, and it was a pivotal part of her development as a collegiate athlete. Huske calls for the CSCAA to bring them back to the meet format, speaking publicly about what many are discussing on deck in Atlanta.

No Bs has been a disaster, plus being relegated to ESPN+. Shame on ESPN.

that was lovely, powerful, convincing, compelling, professional. Leaders in the pool and on the deck need to speak up.

I wish they had the guts to bring the Bs back for the man’s D1 next week. (Just dreaming, they won’t)

Thank you Torri! Very well said. This meet has been the saddest that I have ever been to. The absence of the B finals, long breaks, and morning relays has lead to an incredibly low energy environment. The most energy was during the “bring back B’s” chant. Total disservice to the swimmers.

Way to go Torri! Every interview on deck and in press room should start with “bring back B”

we hope the power at b’s are listening. This is RIDICULOUS and confusing and sad for so many. The podium at the end of the night is embarrassing. The stands seem to be 20% full, while swimmers are receiving their NCAA trophy!! And hardly anyone is there to see this amazing accomplishment. Yes this is beating a dead horse, but this needs to stay alive so “they” know what a terrible decision this was.

I feel the emotions on this decision will be even higher next week when the boys are racing.

keep chanting fans! Love to see it!

You can contact the CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association) at [email protected]

They are the ones directly responsible for the decision to abandon B finals. I have written them and encourage all others to send a quick email to let them know of your disappointment in their decisions and leadership of our sport.

The sound system in the pool sounds like we borrowed it from the summer league team down the street. That would help the environment alot and a little more “Sam Kendrick” spirit in the building instead of all the ill-placed breaks. Swimmers are delivering…..
