Spectrum Aquatics Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming: 3/21/2026

Max Stern, 13, Opelika Swim Team (SE): Stern established nine lifetime bests at the Southeastern Championship meet three weeks ago in Huntsville, Ala., earning five top-three individual finishes despite being in the younger half of the 13-14 age group. The Opelika Swim Team product cracked the top 10 ranking among 13-year-old boys this season in six events, moving to 4th in the 50 breast (27.36), 5th in the 100 breast (58.95) and 200 IM (1:57.25), 7th in the 200 breast (2:08.15), 8th in the 400 IM (4:13.18) and 9th in the 50 fly (24.06). He also posted times on relay lead-offs in the 50 back (25.26), 50 free (22.37) and 100 back (55.04) that rank 18th, 22nd and 51st this season, respectively.

Nico Lahre, 11, BGC-N. Westchester Marlins (MR): It’s been a big month for Lahre, who aged up and turned 11 midway through March. Prior to this birthday, he set three best times at the AGUA Last Chance Invitational, including swims in the 200 back (2:11.17) and 100 fly (1:01.40) that rank 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the boys’ 10 & under age group. One week later, at the Junior Metropolitan meet in East Meadow, N.Y., Lahre set eight best times, including re-lowering his marks in the 200 back (2:06.99) and 100 fly (1:00.91) to rank him 1st and 12th, respectively, among 11-year-olds this season. He also moves to 2nd this season among 11-year-olds in the 200 fly (2:12.29), 3rd in the 400 IM (4:39.98), 4th in the 100 back (59.18) and 6th in the 200 IM (2:13.72).

Claire Liu, 12, Lakeside Swim Team (KY): Liu set six best times at last weekend’s KYLSC 12 & Under SC meet, moving into the top 10 in the girls’ 11-12 age group this season in four of them. The 12-year-old Lakeside swimmer moves to 3rd in the 200 back (2:05.82), 5th in the 100 back (58.48), 6th in the 200 fly (2:08.69) and 8th in the 200 breast (2:25.51). One week prior, she set seven PBs at the Speedo Southern Premier, highlighted by the 50 back (27.67), 50 breast (31.28), 50 fly (26.32), 100 fly (58.23), 100 IM (59.04) and 200 IM (2:07.99). Both her swims in the medley events ranked 2nd in the 11-12 age group this season, while the 50 fly swims ranked 7th and the 50 back, 50 breast and 100 fly are all in the top 15. In the all-time ranks, she ranks 38th in the 11-12 age group and 98th in the 200 IM.

Isaiah Silver, 16, Livermore Aqua Cowboys (PC): Competing at the Juanita Allington Memorial Meet prior to his 16th birthday, Silver set nine best times, climbing into the top five this season among 15-year-old boys in four of them. His headlining swim came in the 400 IM, where the Livermore Aqua Cowboy clocked 3:48.95 to rank 1st this season among 15-year-olds and 9th in the 15-16 age group. He also moved to 2nd this season among 15-year-olds in the 200 IM (1:47.56), 3rd in the 200 fly (1:47.84) and 4th in the 200 free (1:38.22), and also set bests to rank 15th in the 200 breast (2:01.35), 17th in the 100 free (45.73) and 25th in the 500 free (4:32.10).

Addie Farrier, 10, Clearwater Aquatic Team (FL): Farrier fired off lifetime bests of 27.57 in the 50 fly and 1:02.49 in the 100 fly at the FLAGS South meet, ranking her 1st this season in the girls’ 10 & under age group and climbing the all-time rankings. She now sits 9th all-time in the 50 fly and 39th in the 100 fly. The Clearwater Aquatic team product also set bests in the 50 free (26.62), 50 back (30.47) and 100 IM (1:05.75), ranking her 8th, 7th and 5th in the 10 & age group this season, respectively.
