The Miami-Ohio men’s swimming and diving team showed up to the men’s basketball game in the NCAA Tournament first four game in Dayton, Ohio. The team appeared in speedos as SMU was about to start shooting free throws. SMU’s free throw missed.
The Miami-Ohio men have showed up to numerous basketball games this season in their speedos. Numerous opponents free throws have missed when they have showed up.
The Miami men’s basketball program went undefeated in regular season play and lost in the quarterfinal of the MAC Tournament but still earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Last night’s game was the first four which are played in Dayton, Ohio, just under an hour drive from Miami’s campus.
The men’s swim team got a feature last night on CBS as the team, where basketball head coach Travis Steele said, “I was distracted…so if I was distracted, I’d say the player would be really distracted.”
The men’s basketball program will play in the round of 64 against #6 seeded Tennessee in the midwest region. That game will be in Philadelphia on Friday, March 20.

This is how you keep a men’s swimming program. Scrap auto bids. Programs that want to survive can make themselves part of campus culture with stuff like this.
One time Michael Phelps jumped out of a curtain in a speedo at a basketball game.
I know I would be distracted by this.
I was at the game. The energy was incredible.
And when the guys ran down the steps in their suits to get behind the basket and SMUs FT shooter missed the first one, the place went wild.
Best story in college basketball this year! GO Redhawks (aka Redskins back in the day)
I’d love to see them make the second weekend
