Rochester Swim Club’s Elliot Leasure had a monster swim in the 200 back at the club’s President’s Day Meet in mid-February, moving into the top five all-time in the boys’ 13-14 age group.
Leasure, 14, put up a time of 1:46.25 to improve on his previous best of 1:47.08 and climb from 13th to 5th all-time in the age group and 1st this season. He set his previous best last March at the NCSA Age Group Championships.
In addition to ranking 5th all-time, Leasure is also the fastest swimmer in the age group in the 2020s, overtaking Baylor Stanton‘s mark of 1:46.31 set in 2022.

Leasure also set new lifetime bests in the 50 back (23.37), 100 fly (51.32) and 200 fly (1:50.75) at the meet, while he added a season-best in the 400 IM (4:01.98) and clocked 49.94 to win the 100 back. He set a new PB of 49.25 in the 100 back at Winter Juniors – West in December, which ranks 17th all-time in the 13-14 age group.
His swim in the 200 fly ties him for 54th all-time in the 13-14 age group and ranks 4th this season, and he also now ranks 4th in the 50 back, 15th in the 400 IM and 26th in the 100 fly this season following his swims at the President’s Day Meet.
Leasure’s Rochester teammate, Kai Joyner, set a massive personal best en route to edging out Leasure to win the 200 back in a time of 1:45.73, which ranks him 4th this season among 15-year-old boys. Joyner came into the meet with a PB of 1:48.07, set last March, and chipped two one-hundredths off it in the prelims (1:48.05) before his big drop in the final.
On the girls’ side, Edina Swim Club’s Catherine Pawlaski, 17, fired off a season-best time of 28.84 in the 50 breast to rank 6th this season among 17-year-old girls. The UNC commit also set a PB in the 50 free (23.92).
Rochester’s Julia Ogren, 18, impressed by setting four best times at the meet, including a 24.53 clocking in the 50 fly to rank 25th in the 17-18 age group this season. The Louisville commit also set bests in the 100 free (49.80), 200 back (2:02.37) and 200 fly (2:02.36).
