2026 Speedo Sectionals – Oceanside CA

Junior National Team member Gabi Brito wrapped up a great weekend of racing with another top-ranking performance at the Speedo Sectionals competition in Oceanside.

The 15-year-old threw down a lifetime best time of 23.17 in the 50 fly, winning the event nearly a second and marking the fastest time in the country this season in the girls’ 15-16 age group.

Brito knocked .69 off of her previous personal best (23.86) over the course of the day, posting a time of 23.57 during prelims before lowering it even further during finals.

The chart-topping performance came shortly after Brito snagged another event victory in the 100 free, prevailing in 48.47. She beat out Stanford alum Lillie Nordmann by almost a full second for the championship title, with Nordmann, who now swims for Alto Swim Club, touching 2nd in 49.31.

Earlier in the meet, Brito won the 100 fly in 51.20, which knocked .35 off of her lifetime best and made her the 9th-fastest 15-16 100 butterflier in history.

Brito’s winning performances on Sunday night marked her third and fourth victories of the meet, as in addition to winning the 100 fly, she also prevailed in the 100 back (51.46). Brito also placed 2nd in the 100 breast (1:01.60) and 3rd in the 200 breast (2:13.04).

Brito went on to close out the meet with a final victory in the 400 free relay, joining Beach Cities Alpha teammates Eryn Arnold, Andi Taylor and Sora Koike to secure the win with a time of 3:21.01.
