Cal’s Yamato Okadome Sets New ACC Record With 1:48.87 200 Breast, #9 Performer All-Time

Yamato Okadome of Cal set a new ACC record in the men’s 200 breaststroke, touching in a 1:48.87 for the win. That broke the previous ACC record of a 1:48.89 set by Carles Coll Marti of Virginia Tech at the 2025 NCAA Championships.

That also broke Coll Marti’s old meet record of a 1:49.62 that he swam to win a year ago. Okadome was 2nd last year in a 1:50.19.

Okadome used a strong back half to get under both of Coll Marti’s old records. The biggest difference compared to Coll Marti’s swim from NCAAs was the final 50 as Okadome was 0.37 seconds faster.

In addition to his record, setting swim, Okadome also moved up the all-time rankings to be the #9 performer all-time, sitting just ahead of Coll Marti.
