Through the 3rd day of the 2026 Mountain West Championships, 4-time defending champions San Diego State have expanded their lead. UNLV has placed themselves firmly in 2nd, while Washington State is hanging on to 3rd.

UNLV’s Rachel Wigginton, a freshman, won the 200 fly in 1:57.08. She beat out fellow freshman Jinjutha Pholjamjumrus (Nevada), who finished in 1:57.13. Wigginton blew away her previous best time of 1:59.67. She also punched her ticket to NCAAs, as her winning time was under the NCAA qualifying time of 1:57.11. Meanwhile, Pholjamjumrus was off her career best time of 1:55.75, which she swam at the Phil Hansel Invite back in November.

Nevada junior Scarlett Ferris won the 100 back in 51.07, setting a new Mountain West Championship record. Ferris was a little off her career best of 50.78, which she swam a few weeks ago. Colorado State’s Tess Whineray was excellent as well, coming in 2nd with a 51.73. That swim marks a new Colorado State program record. Washington State’s Anna Rauchholz came in 3rd with a 52.17, breaking her own Washington State program record.

Fresno State’s Mackenzie Lung was as good as advertised, winning the 100 breast in 58.17. While that swim was off her season best of 57.92, Lung cracked the MW championship record of 59.14 by a second. That win also officially punches Lung’s ticket to NCAAs, as she won and was miles under the qualifying time of 1:00.30.

Washington State won the 200 medley relay at the beginning of the session, clocking a 1:36.40. Rauchholz (24.60), Emily Lundgren (26.83), Addy Lewis (23.45), and Darcy Revitt (21.52) teamed up to earn the win. Other noteworthy splits include Scarlett Ferris‘ 22.80 fly split on the Nevada relay, Lung’s 26.49 breast split on the Fresno State relay, and Alyssa Schiller‘s 21.62 free split on the San Diego State relay.

Wyoming earned their first relay win of the week in the 800 free, where Raiden Harris (1:47.79), Avery True (1:48.69), Macey Hansen (1:49.27), and Tara Joyce (1:44.25) combined for a 7:10.00. UNLV came in 2nd with a 7:10.94, helped greatly by Erika Carlson‘s 1:46.16 lead-off leg.

There was a team diving event as well, which San Diego State won with a score of 307.35.
