Rangelova Breaks Bulgarian Record en Route to Bill Nixon Shootout Title

The 2014 Bill Nixon Shootout wrapped up over the weekend. This was the first USA Swimming sanctioned meet in Lewisville Independent School District’s (LISD) new aquatic stadium. Dozen’s of meet records were broken in the brand new Myrtha pool, even a Bulgarian national record.

Nina Rangelova won the women’s 50 freestyle shootout, taking home the first Bill Nixon Shootout title, along with the cash prize. Lauren Pitzer, a 15 year-old finished second, ahead of American Olympian Breeja Larson. Rangelova is a freestyle sensation in Bulgaria, holding the national records in the 50. 100, 200, & 400 freestyles. Lauren Pitzer surprised the crowd finishing second in the shootout. Pitzer is a junior national finalist.

  7. Kate Boyer (16) Dallas Mustangs 27.21
  8. Kayla Epting (17) Unattached 28.28

Kyle Troskot, the former Texas A&M Aggie standout got to the wall ahead of former Texas Longhorn standout Dax Hill. As the two professionals invited to the meet, the pair was expected to finish first and second. Brett Ringold of the North Texas Nadadores snuck in for third, only .01 behind the lengthy reach of Dax Hill.
