ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Women’s Swimming and Diving saw its home winning streak continue on Saturday (Nov. 8) as the Bulldogs topped Davidson 188-112. The streak extends to 15 in a row at home dating back to October 2020.
Asheville won 13 of the 16 events on the day, including both relays and sweeping both breaststroke events. Asheville also captured the top two spots in the 100 and 200 fly, while capturing the win and second place in the 400 IM.
The quartet of Savanna Bush, Gracelyn Cox, Taylor Smith and Gianna Riffel won the 200 medley relay in 1:47.72, while Cox (1:07.15) and Smith (1:07.21) went one and two in the 100 breast. Miriam Wheatley also captured third in 1:07.40 in the event. Alessia Cunegatti (2:09.03) and Andie Quisumbing (2:15.18) went first and second in the 200 fly, while Anna Marcotti posted a win in the 100 fly in 53.13 seconds. Gracie Hunt also finished third in 25.25 seconds. Cunegatti captured the win in the 200 back in 208.03, while the Bulldogs swept the 200 breast with Beatrice Cocconcelli taking the win in 2:27.81, Wheatley taking second in 2:28.38 and Cox finishing third in 2:29.13. Anna Kate Halligan captured the win in the 500 free in 5:16.30, while Smith (59.71) and Quisumbing (1:01.11) went first and second in the 100 fly. Asheville captured the top two spots in the 400 IM with Cunegatti getting the win in 4:32.29 and Halligan taking second in 4:42.28. Asheville also win the 200 free relay with the team of Hunt, Riffel, Cocconcelli and Marcotti winning in 1:38.55. Leigha Travis paced the Bulldogs with a score of 243.93 in round one of the 1M, while doing the same in the second round with a score of 238.95.
“It was an exciting day for our first home meet of the season,” said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. “We are extremely proud of how the team responded to the enthusiasm of the crowd. “What fun it was to extend the streak to 15 home wins! We were happy to see the ladies supporting one another and bringing their energy to a loud pool deck versus a formidable A-10 opponent.”
The Bulldogs return to the water Nov. 20-23 for the Queens (N.C.) Fall Frenzy in Charlotte.

ASHEVILLE — Wins by Frances Bohner and Elle Jacobsen highlighted the Davidson women’s swimming and diving team’s visit to UNC Asheville Saturday.
Bohner swam to a win in the 1,000 free, while Jacobsen won two rounds of 1-meter diving, though UNCA won 188-112 in the team tally.
“Credit to UNCA, they were faster than us today,” said Davidson coach John Young. “But I’m proud of the women for being great teammates and racing hard, impressed by our divers who showed off when it was their turn, and excited by all that the team has accomplished during these consecutive competition weekends.”
Bohner swam out front in the 1,000 with a time of 10:54.33.
Jacobsen won the 1M with scores of 279.30 and 299.78.
