William & Mary Sweeps George Mason On Senior Day

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary swimming teams posted a pair of dual meet victories against George Mason on Saturday. The women’s team scored a dominant 211-50 victory while the men won by 171-91 final as the Tribe celebrated Senior Day at the Rec Center.

W&M won both the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay. The women posted a time of 1:40.12 behind Julie AddisonLindsay JuhlinLauren Klinefelter, and Caroline Burgeson, which was fifth-fastest in school history. The men clocked in at 1:29.02 with Leo O’KeefeBrock RempeAlex Valliere, and Aiden Bond leading the way

In distance events, Lauren Tucker took the women’s 1000 free with a time of 10:06.81, which stands fourth-fastest all-time. Freshman Tyler Barrit won on the men’s side, finishing in 9:23.97.

The Tribe had 24 event victories in total.

NOTABLE RESULTS

  • In the 200 free, Tess Lankford had the top time with a mark of 1:50.72.
  • Addison took the 100 backstroke with her time of 54.44.
  • Juhlin won the women’s 100 breast with a time of 1:00.84, while Logan McDonald took the men’s race with a mark of 54.81.
  • Juhlin also won the 200 breast at 2:15.90.
  • The Tribe also swept the 200 butterfly with first-place finishes from Sammy Randell (2:03.32) and Thor Dyke (1:50.66).
  • Burgeson had victories in the 50 free (23.19) and 100 free (51.08).
  • Bond was a winner in the 50 free (20.14) and 100 free (44.30).
  • Thomas Duncan took the 200 backstroke, clocking in at 1:46.88.
  • In the men’s 200 breast, Logan McDonald finished first with his time of 2:04.78.
  • W&M took both of the 500 free events with Tucker (4:55.19) and Barritt (4:35.93) both winning.
  • Klinefelter had the top time in the 100 fly at 54.98.
  • Claire Neilly (2:07.50) and Duncan (1:51.21) earned the Green & Gold wins in the 200 IM.

UP NEXT
W&M will have two weeks off before ramping up for the West Virginia Invitational in Morgantown, W.Va. on Nov. 20-22.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The George Mason women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams were on the road to face William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.

On the men’s side, senior Tate Anderson won the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.20) with freshman Robert Dykman third (1:42.29).  Anderson touched the wall second in the 100-yard freestyle (45.06) with graduate student Agustin Rasche fourth in the event (46.22).

Junior Ian Rodgers took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke (48.18) and was second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.98).  Junior Colin Murtaugh won the 100-yard butterfly (49.73) while classmate Ryan Serbia was third in both the 100-yard breaststroke (56.15) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:06.12).

In the distance events, junior Alex Crown placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:26.42) and third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.98).

The team of Anderson, Rodgers, Rasche and sophomore Gabriel Miller touched the wall first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:59.61).

On the women’s side, senior Peyton Brehmer placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.50) and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (56.22).

In the 200-yard backstroke, freshman Lucy Daniel placed second (2:04.07) with sophomore Greta Mott third (2:04.57).  Senior Ainsley Toews took third in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.08) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.32).

Freshman Madelyn Abel placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (52.90) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.14).  In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Alexis Brazier finished third (5:06.90).

The Patriots are back in action when they host the annual Patriot Invitational Nov. 19-22 at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Fairfax, Va.
