CLAREMONT, Calf. — Pomona-Pitzer women’s swimming and diving defeated San Diego 186-113 and California Baptist 153.5-146.5 Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.
The Sagehens started the day with a win in the 400y medley relay, with Izzy Yoon, Francesca Coppo, Mollie Appl and Ellie Burkhardt swimming a time of 3:53.77. Burkhardt then won the 200y freestyle with a 1:52.62, finishing nearly four seconds faster than second place. Appl won the 100y backstroke with a 57.04.
Sabrina Wang clocked a 24.34 to win the 50y freestyle before Burkhardt posted another win in the 100y freestyle with a 51.71. Yoon secured a win of her own in the 200y backstroke after racing a 2:05.22.
In the 100y butterfly, Appl finished first with a time of 57.04. The Sagehens then finished the day with a win in the 200y freestyle relay, as Wang, Chesna Pelka, Joy Lee and Coppo raced a time of 1:35.88.
CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men’s swimming and diving fell 199-99 to California Baptist Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.
Nathan Xu posted the Sagehens’ first event win of the day in the men’s 100y freestyle, clocking in at 46.41. Adrian Clement claimed third with a 47.11. Xu also came in first in the 100y butterfly with a time of 49.82.
Pomona-Pitzer finished second in the 400y medley relay to start the day with a 3:24.87, just 0.62 seconds behind CBU. Quinn Delaney placed second in the 200y freestyle and Xu took silver in the 100y backstroke. Diego Hodge placed second in the 200y butterfly before Clement finished second in the 50y freestyle.
Max Yeoh earned a second place finish in the 200y backstroke with a 1:52.75. Nate Levy then placed second in the 200y breaststroke while the Sagehens finished the swim events with a second place finish in the 200y freestyle relay.
In the diving events, Tommy Matheis placed second in the 1m with a 269.55 and third in the 3m with a 295.70.

CLAREMONT, Calif. — The first meet of the 2025-26 season took the Lancers to Claremont on Saturday, as CBU hit the pool against Pomona-Pitzer and San Diego. The day was a success overall for the Lancers, as they walked away with two of the three head-to-head victories.
For select swimmers, the meet was their second taste of competition this season. CBU kicked off the season last week in Long Beach at the MPSF Open Water Championship.
Saturday was the season debut for the CBU dive team. One meet into the season, the Lancers already have an NCAA Zone E qualifier as John Angelovic hit the mark in one-meter and three-meter dives. Angelovic scored 322.4 in one-meter and 366.5 in three-meter dives.
Angelovic placed first in both diving competitions. Audrey Easter also placed first in both dive events. Easter scored 260.5 in one-meter diving and 245.25 in three-meter diving. Bella Reynolds took second in one-meter and third in two-meter. Jade Fontenelle finished second in the three-meter and third in the one-meter. Connor Dreiling placed second in the men’s three-meter.
In the swimming events, CBU opened the day with a win in the men’s 400-yard medley relay. The relay team consisted of Benjamin Madson, Ian Mullen, Tyler Mansheim, and Andrew Teh. The next victory came in the men’s 1000-yard freestyle as Mark Kovaciscs led the field with a time of 9:20.18. Fernando Manceras (9:59.79) and Cody Meyer (10:02.09) rounded out the top three. Kovaciscs later won the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.95) and 400-yard IM (4:03.73).
Eli Rollen added a first-place finish for the Lancers in the men’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.91. Rollen later placed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of Stephen Cui was next:51.10. claimed victory with his time of 51:13 in the men’s 100-yard breaststroke.
In the women’s 200-yard butterfly, Camille Cottier (2:07.27) placed first, followed by Avery Easterling (2:08.05) with her second-place finish. Iyanah Samayoa added a 200-yard victory in the breaststroke with a time of 2:24.61. Kai Flanagan added the Lancers’ next win in the 500-yard freestyle with her time of 5:09.07.
Saturday’s final event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The CBU men placed first with a time of 1:23.96. The CBU women finished second in their event with a time of 1:36.41.
The CBU men were victorious in their head-to-head meet with Pomona-Pitzer, scoring 199.0 points to 99.0 from the Sagehens. The CBU women won against San Diego (178.0-121.0), but fell to Pomona-Pitzer (153.5-146.5).
CBU will be in Riverside next weekend for a two-day meet at the Lancer Aquatic Center. UC Santa Barbara, Denver, and San Diego State will all be in town to battle the Lancers.

CLAREMONT – Returning to the pool for their final meet in October, the San Diego women’s swimming and diving team competed in a three team meet against Pomona-Pitzer and California Baptist on Saturday afternoon at Halderman Pool.
25 total San Diego student-athletes were in action during Saturday’s meet as the Toreros fielded competitors in the following events: 400 medley relay, 1,000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle relay as well as the one and three meter dive.
Sydney Wilson had another strong showing for the Toreros as she came in first place in the 1,000 freestyle and 400 individual medley, while also turning in a second place finish in the 200 backstroke. Elise Sullivan also had a good performance with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke and followed that with a second place mark in the 200 breaststroke.
On the diving side, Morgan Divita earned a fourth place spot in the three meter dive and came in sixth place while competing in the one meter dive on Saturday afternoon.

The Toreros will now enjoy some much needed rest before returning to competition in mid-November. San Diego’s swimmers will head to Utah from November 19-22 when they race at the Utah Tech Invite, while the USD divers will remain in Southern California to compete in the USC Diving Invite that will take place November 20-22.
