World Juniors Medalist Kaidy Stout, #15 in Class of 2027, Verbally Commits to Tennessee

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Kaidy Stout from Lewisville, North Carolina, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee for 2027-28 and beyond. She wrote on social media:

“I am so excited and grateful to announce my commitment to study and swim at the University of Tennessee! Thank you to my family, friends, and church who have supported me through this process. Also, thank you to my teammates and coaches at GSA. And as always, all glory be to God. Thank you to the Tennessee coaching staff for this wonderful opportunity! I can’t wait to join this team! GO VOLS!🧡💙”

Stout is a junior at West Forsyth High School. A member of the USA Swimming National Team, she trains year-round at GSA (formerly Greensboro Swimming Association) under head coach Ron Turner (an alumnus of Tennessee). She is – by a margin of more than 2 seconds – the fastest 200 breaststroker in the cohort with a PB of 2:09.82. She also owns one of the few sub-1:02 100 breaststroke times and we ranked her #15 on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimming recruits in the high school class of 2027.

Stout will join a program that produced the likes of Molly Hannis, Mona McSharry, and McKenzie Siroky over the last few years. Stout is the third top-20 pick for the Lady Vols for 2027; they also received verbal commitments from Minnesota native Adalynn Biegler (#10) and Cary, North Carolina’s Sloane Whelehan (#17).

As a freshman at the 2024 NCHSAA 4A State Championships, Stout hit a season-best time of 1:03.48 in prelims of the 100 breast and ultimately placed 8th in the final. She did not swim high school as a sophomore. Rather, she competed at the North Carolina LSC Short Course Senior Championships in February of this year and won the 200 breast with her first sub-2:10 (2:09.82). That was the last of a series where she had whittled her time down from a PB of 2:15.80 in February, to 2:12.35 in November, and 2:10.37 in December (the runner-up performance at the U.S. Open). Similarly, she took her PB of 1:03.48 in the 100 breast to 1:02.99 in November, to 1:01.61 in December, to 1:01.51 in March (at the Southeastern Meet of Champions). That meet also produced lifetime bests in the 50/100 back, 100 fly, and 200/400 IM.

In long-course meters, Stout broke the 2:30 barrier in the 200 breast for the first time at 2025 U.S. Nationals, when she won the ‘B’ final with 2:29.22. She then lowered her 100/200 breast PBs to 1:11.03/2:28.63 at North Carolina Senior Championships in July. Stout wasn’t done with the 100, though; she swam a PB of 1:09.83 to finish 2nd in the event at Greensboro Futures.

She wrapped up the season at World Aquatics Junior Championships, where she swam a PB of 2:28.58 in prelims of the 200 breast and then cracked a 2:26.84 in the final to win the bronze medal for Team USA.

Stout’s best 200 breast time would already score in the ‘B’ final at the SEC Championships. It took 1:01.00 in the 100 breast and 1:59.04/4:14.85 in the IMs to earn second swims at the conference meet last season.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 breast – 2:09.82
  • 100 breast – 1:01.51
  • 200 IM – 2:03.39
  • 400 IM – 4:19.72

Watching her at Junior Worlds…she’s gonna blow up this year. Interested to see her third event development, but she’s gonna be the clear number 1 breaststroker in this class. 4th fastest American breaststroker this summer behind Douglas, Walsh, and Christopherson.

Tennessee has been stacking massive classes for a few years … will they break through into a top-3 finish or make a run a title?
