Athens Bulldog Swim Club’s Christopher Koch has verbally committed to Georgia Tech as a part of the Yellow Jackets’ men’s 2026 recruiting class.
I am incredibly honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Georgia Tech. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of so many people who have shaped me along the way. As a junior at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Koch finished as the runner-up in the boys’ 200 IM, setting a new lifetime best in 1:54.17, and 3rd in the 500 freestyle in 4:39.62 at the 2025 Georgia High School 4A State Championships in February.
Just over a month and a half later, Koch notched a plethora of best times at the Northeast Divisional Championships. He swam best times in the 100 breaststroke (56.18), 200 breast (2:00.48), 200 free (1:41.05), 100 butterfly (52.34), 200 IM (1:52.25), and 400 IM (3:58.91).
This summer, Koch competed at the Speedo Junior National Championships (LCM), he marked new best times in the 50 backstroke (29.25), 50 breast (30.94), and the 200 breast (2:25.67).

- 100 Breast: 56.18
- 200 Breast: 2:00.48
- 200 Free: 1:41.05
- 500 Free: 4:33.27
- 1650 Free: 15:56.06
- 200 IM: 1:52.25
- 400 IM: 3:58.91
The Georgia Tech men finished 9th out of 15 teams at last season’s ACC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Based on Koch’s best times, he would have finished 24th in the 1650 free, and 47th in the 100 breast and the 500 free.
Koch is a versatile swimmer, with a good mix of sprint stroke and distance free, it makes him flexible to test the waters to formulate his best ACC lineup.
With a good number of his bests coming in 2025 (plus his 500 and 1650 free, which are from 2024), his progression looks very solid and has the potential to be impactful for the Yellow Jackets for years to come.
Koch is currently the only publicized recruit in the 2026 recruiting class.
