Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Ryan Loveless has committed to swim at the College of the Holy Cross, beginning in the fall of 2026. He hails from Bedford, New York, where he swims for Badger Swim Club and competes for Fox Lane-John Jay High School.
He publicized the announcement on social media, writing:
I am super excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The College Of The Holy Cross!! I want to thank my family, friends and all the coaches on Badger who helped me get to this point. Go Cross Go!!
Loveless is a versatile freestyler who also excels in both backstroke events. His two target meets of the 2024-25 season were the Senior Metro Winter Championships and the Speedo Southern Premier, both held in February.
At the Senior Metro Winter Championships, he recorded five personal best times, with his standout performance coming in the 1650 free, where he touched seventh in 16:14.30. He went on to take 24th in both the 500 free (4:43.32) and 200 back (1:56.10), both career bests. He added a 53.59 for 30th in the 100 back and 1:47.17 for 48th in the 200 free, both personal records as well.
At the Southern Premier, he achieved lifetime bests in five of his six races. His highest placement came in the 500 free, where he lowered his best time to 4:40.80 and hit the wall 24th. He went on to finish 39th in the 200 back (1:55.46), 55th in the 100 back (54.51), 67th in the 200 free (1:46.13), 81st in the 100 free (50.16), and 97th in the 50 free (23.12). The 100 back was the only race where he did not achieve a personal best.
Top SCY Times:
- 100 Backstroke: 53.59
- 200 Backstroke: 1:55.46
- 100 Freestyle: 50.16
- 200 Freestyle: 1:46.13
- 500 Freestyle: 4:40.80
- 1650 Freestyle: 16:14.30
The Holy Cross men, led by coach Kristy Jones, finished eighth out of ten teams at the 2025 Patriot League Championships. At that meet, which offers ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals with scoring through 24th place, Loveless’ best time in the mile would have earned three points with a 22nd-place showing. It took swims of 45.64, 1:41.15, and 4:34.65 to score in the other freestyle events, while the backstrokes required 50.40 and 1:52.22.
On the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, Loveless would have ranked second in the 1650 free, fourth in the 200 back and 500 free, fifth in the 100 back, ninth in the 200 free, and 14th in the 100 free. Junior Jack Greiner led the way in the 100–500 free with times of 45.98, 1:38.81, and 4:29.27, and also topped the 100 and 200 back at 50.33 and 1:46.85. Sophomore Austin Cutcher was the team’s fastest miler with a 16:03.71 in the 1650 free.
Loveless is set to join Nate Dorsch and Alex Nixon in Holy Cross’ men’s swimming recruiting class of 2030.
