Emily Heintz of Anderson, South Carolina, has committed to swim and study at Queens University of Charlotte, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. She trains year-round with Team Greenville and attends T.L. Hanna High School.
Heintz confirmed the news to SwimSwam in an email, writing:
I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Queens University of Charlotte! A huge thank you to my amazing coaches and teammates at Team Greenville and T.L. Hanna for pushing me to be the best person and athlete I can be. I would also like to thank my family and friends for their unconditional love and support throughout my whole swimming career. Most importantly, I want to thank God for everything he has blessed me with and for his continued guidance throughout this process. Heintz is a versatile middle distance specialist who is strong in the 100-500 freestyles, in addition to the backstroke and IM races.
At the 2024 South Carolina High School League State Championships, held in November, Heintz swam to a pair of fourth-place finishes in her individual events. She clocked a best time of 58.05 in the 100 back and hit the wall at 52.77 in the 100 free, which was a few tenths off her 52.32 best time from March 2024. She also helped the 200 free relay take sixth with a 24.22 leg, and led off the 200 medley relay that touched seventh in 27.79.
She wrapped up her 2024-25 season at the NCSA Spring Championships in March, where she clocked a pair of best times in the IM races. She hit the wall 24th in the 400 IM in 4:26.94, and also hit 2:06.98 en route to finishing 47th in the 200 IM. She also swam 1:53.52 for 57th in the 200 free, 52.82 for 91st in the 100 free, and 58.76 for 145th in the 100 back, a bit off her fastest-ever times.
Beyond those major meets, she set best times of 5:05.06 in the 500 free and 2:07.40 in the 200 back at the South Carolina Senior SC Championship in February, and has a best of 1:51.92 in the 200 free from March of 2024.

Queens University is a Division I school in North Carolina and is led by 16-year head coach Jeff Dugdale. At the 2025 ASUN Championships, the Queens women finished third out of seven teams.
At the 2025 conference meet, which offered ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals, Heintz’s best time in the 400 IM would have put her ninth after prelims and into the ‘B’ final, less than two seconds shy of the 4:25.14 required to make the championship heat. Her best time of 1:51.92 in the 200 free would have been quick enough to rank 15th after prelims and squeak into the ‘B’ final. It took times of 51.59 and 5:04.88 to make the top 16 in the 100 and 500 freestyles, while it took 57.56 and 2:04.70 in the backstrokes and 2:05.97 in the 200 IM.
According to the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, Heintz’s bests would have situated her fifth in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 free, seventh in the 200 back and 500 free, eighth in the 100 free, and 10th in the 100 back.
Heintz joins Peyton Kerby and Grace Marsaa in committing to the university’s recruiting class of 2030.
