Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers of Australia has officially become a dad.

27-year-old Chalmers and fiancée Ingeborg Loyning welcomed daughter Astrid Olivia into the world on Thursday, August 28th.

“Astrid Olivia. Born 8:38am on the 28th of the 8th 2025. We are obsessed with you,” they captioned a joint post on Instagram.

In March of this year, Chalmers, a 9-time Olympic swimming medalist, and Norwegian partner Løyning announced they were expecting their first child.

Previously, the swimming power couple announced their engagement in June of 2024 in the lead up to the Olympic Games. There in Paris, Chalmers raced his way to silver in the men’s 100m freestyle to follow up his 2016 gold and 2020 silver in the same event. Chalmers also helped the Aussie men earn 4x100m free relay silver at last year’s Games.

As for Løyning, the 24-year-old has been a backstroke specialist for the majority of her career, owning Norway’s LCM national records in the 50, 100 and 200 distances. She was a member of the 2020 Olympic team, where her highest finish came in the 200m back where she placed 17th overall.

Chalmers’ child was born just days after fellow Olympian Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden gave birth to her first child, son Adrian.

Aussie Olympiac gold medalist from Paris, Cameron McEvoy also welcomed his first child, son Hartley, last month.

We almost certainly know the 25% composition of the Australian women’s 400m freestyle relay in 16 or 18 years.
