Former Canadian Hockey Player Albert Bouley Signs with LSU for Swimming

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Albert Bouley from Toronto, Ontario, is headed to Louisiana State University this fall to swim for the Tigers. Formerly a player on the North Bay Trapper hockey team, the 6’6” 220-pounder converted to swimming and specializes in sprints.

Bouley is transferring in from the University of Toronto, where he had a breakout freshman year. At the OUA conference championships, he placed 2nd in the 50 fly, 3rd in the 50 back, 4th in the 50 free, 6th in the 100 free, and was a member of 2 record-setting free relays (4×50 and 4×100). Then at the U Sports National Championship (25m), he finished 2nd in the 50 free (21.84), 5th in the 50 fly (23.57) and 50 back (24.38), 8th in the 100 free (49.92), and contributed to 2 silver-medal relays (4×100 free and 4×100 medley).

Bouley told Jennifer Hamilton-McCharles at the North Bay Nugget, “After my U Sports championship in Toronto I had improved tremendously; scoring UofT over 100 points. I wanted to make the jump to NCAA because it is the mecca of all university and college sports with incredible funding and resources. I am beyond grateful to have been offered a full scholarship to Louisiana State University which is in the Southeastern Conference.”

At Canadian Swimming Trials this summer, he earned LCM best times in the 50 free (22.88), 100 free (51.90), and 50 fly (24.48) while placing 10th in the 50 free and 8th in the 50 fly.

Best times:

Event SCM LCM Best conversion
50 free 21.84 22.88 19.67
100 free 49.08 51.90 44.21
50 fly 23.57 24.48 21.23
50 back 24.38 26.63 21.96
50 breast 30.27 31.52 27.27

Bouley will begin his LSU tenure with Texas transfer Luke Stibrich and incoming freshmen Jon Avdiu and Simon Meubry. It took 19.53 / 42.75 to score in the individual 50 free and 100 free events at SECs last season.

The title of the article should be, “Albert Bouley, how science brought back a Neanderthal from science”. This guy is a genetic anomaly.

If he went up against Gretchen Walsh in the 50 fly, it would actually be a race.
