National records, veteran excellence, and young stars all made their presence felt at the 2025 Swedish Swimming Championships in Norrköping. The meet featured a plethora of new national records, veteran stars maintaining consistency, and young upstarts able to get their first taste of senior-level meet success.Â
For 20-year-old Thilda Häll, the meet saw her atop the podium on multiple occasions. Not only was she able to win the 400, 800, and 1500-meter freestyle events for the distance freestyle triple crown, but she was also able to break the Swedish national record in the 1500-meter freestyle. She set a new all-time national best with a winning time of 16:39.71, .27 faster than the previous record held by Gabriella Fagundez from 2007 in the 1500-meter freestyle, helping establish her as the top of the distance chain in Sweden. She added final times of 8:47.39 and 4:18.08 in the 800m and 400m, respectively, to close out the triple crown.
26-year-old Paris Olympian Victor Johansson also had success of his own to show as he was able to win his own men’s distance freestyle triple crown in the 400, 800, and 1500-meter freestyle events. Johansson’s final times were 3:48.78 in the 400-meter, 7:53.85 in the 800-meter, and 15:29.36 in the 1500-meter. In the 200-meter freestyle, Johansson took silver with a time of 1:49.65 behind Robin Hanson. Hanson won the event with Johansson coming in 2nd.
Hanson, a Tokyo 2020 Olympian who competes for the Cal Bears in the US, was nearly unstoppable. He wiped away his own Swedish National Record and Nordic Record, which stood at 1:46.50 from 2021 in the 200-meter freestyle, with his final time of 1:45.91. Hanson also took home silver in the 400-meter freestyle as he finished 2nd with a time of 3:51.71, and he won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 49.03.
Swedish National Team member Sara Junevik owned the sprint butterfly events, as the 25-year-old captured a pair of wins in the 50 butterfly in a 25.50, and in the 100 butterfly when she was able to come in with a 59.47. She also took home the silver medal in the 50-meter backstroke as she finished in 29.00.
Junecik’s Swedish National teammate Hanna Rosvall also had a very productive weekend in the shorter sprints as she won the 50 backstroke in a time of 28.81, and she also was able to pick up the silver medal in the 100 backstroke when she clocked in with a 1:02.82.
The two swimmers who were especially impressive among the country’s future stars were the 19-year-old Lisa Nystrand and the 16-year-old Ronja Kylen.
The American-trained Nystrand, especially, had a standout meet in Norrköping, as she ended up winning two bronze medals at the meet in the 400m freestyle with a final time of 4:23.25, and she also added one in the 200m backstroke when she finished in 2:18.06. The versatile 19-year-old was also able to add a fourth-place finish in the 200m breaststroke in a 2:34.92. She just finished her freshman season at NC State.
For the 16-year-old Kylen, who is a member of the Swedish National Junior Team, not only made finals in both events, but she was also in the hunt for a medal in both events as she finished 4th in the 100 backstroke in a 1:04.51 and 5th in the 50 backstroke in a 29.78.
The meet was not a World Championship selection event; Sweden will send 10 swimmers to the 2025 World Championships from July 25th to August 3rd in Singapore.

Oskar Hoff time-trialed the 50 fly (23.46) and broke the Swedish record. Sparvagen Simforening of Stockholm (the club team that Robin Hansson represents) broke the Swedish 4×100 free record, 3:19.50. FSU Seminole Gloria Muzito, who was the flag bearer for Uganda at the Paris Olympics, had sort of a senior level breakthrough in the absence of some national team swimmers and won the 50 and 100 free (25.66 and 55.39).
