Fluidra Race Video of the Week: Gretchen Walsh Completes Career Grand Slam In 100 Free

Gretchen Walsh wrapped up her college career with a bang on the final night of the Women’s NCAA Championships in March, completing the career grand slam in the 100 freestyle.

The University of Virginia senior won her fourth straight national title in the event, clocking 44.71 to set a new NCAA, American and U.S. Open Record. She took down her previous mark of 44.83, set at the 2024 NCAA Championships when she became the first woman in history under the 45-second barrier.

Walsh won the race decisively, topping runner-up Torri Huske (46.01) by over a second, while Tennessee’s Camille Spink (46.698) placed 3rd and Walsh’s UVA freshman teammate Anna Moesch (46.94) snagged 4th.

Walsh, who also went 45.19 in the prelims at NCAAs, finished her college career owning the six-fastest swims in history and eight of the top 10, with Simone Manuel ranking #2 all-time at 45.56.

Following her four-peat in the 100 free, Walsh anchored Virginia’s 400 free relay in the final race of her NCAA career, splitting 45.04 as the Cavaliers won the race by more than two and a half seconds and put a bow on their fifth straight team title.
