Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Journei Webster has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Rutgers University, where she’ll join the team for the 2026-2027 season. Webster, a sprint freestyle specialist, currently attends Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and swims year-round with the Kamehameha Swim Club.
I am so absolutely excited and grateful to finally announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic journey and swim D1 at Rutgers University! A huge thank you to my parents for always sacrificing so much for me and being my biggest cheerleaders, my family for being my #1 supporters, amazing friends, and coaches for their constant encouragement! Can’t wait to be a Scarlet Knight and so excited for the next four years! Go Scarlet Knights!
While Webster’s event specialty is sprint freestyle, she has also ranged out into the butterfly and backstroke events. She qualified for the 2024 Winter Junior Championships, where she swam the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly, and has Futures standards in those same events, in addition to the 100 back.
Webster closed out her short course season this year at the Hawaii Age Group State Championships in Kailua Kona. Among her top swims was the 100 free, where she took the win in 50.00, a new best time. She also logged a personal best time of 2:02.54 in the 200 back to win that event, too.
Webster would have ranked first for Rutgers in both the 50 and 100 free events this season, in addition to being ranked third in both the 100 fly and 100 back.
Top SCY Times:
- 50 Freestyle: 23.18
- 100 Freestyle: 50.00
- 100 Butterfly: 54.83
- 100 Backstroke: 56.17
- 200 Backstroke: 2:02.54
The Scarlet Knights placed 11th out of 14 teams at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, finishing just 34 points shy of 10th place University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The team is led by head coach Jon Maccoll, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the program.
Webster will join Adele Miksa, Grace Sorensen, Madelyn Cassidy, and Alexis Mesina at Rutgers in the fall of 2026 as part of the university’s recruiting class.
