Monmouth Scots Women, Illinois College Blueboys Claim Wins In Split Dual

The Monmouth College women’s swim team won at Illinois College 126.5-60.5 on Saturday while the men lost to IC 106-87.

WOMEN

Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois) led the Scots with a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:36.00, the sixth-best time in that event this season for any Midwest Conference swimmer. .Lea Schmitt (Rockford, Illinois) was second in 2:39.51 and Emily Davis (Beloit, Wisconsin) was fourth in 3:04.76.

Warren also won the 100 freestyle in 59.92. Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana) took second in 1:02.23 and Isabel Lynch (Rock Island, Illinois)  took fourth in 1:09.98

Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 200 free in 2:05.84 with teammate Aiden Bach (Stetsonville, Wisconsin) in second at 2:16.88 and LaBadie in third at 2:18.09. Tate also won the 200 backstroke in 2:16.59 with Bach in second at 2:32.55.

Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:55.61 and Schmitt grabbed a point in 22:53.56. Stewart also won the 200 fly in 2:35.04.

LaBadie won the 50 free in 27.21 seconds with  Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) in third at 28.49 and Lynch in fifth at 29,33.

Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois), tied for first in the 400 yard IM with a time of 5:17.26. Smith took second in the 500 free in 5:59.39 with Fitch in fourth in 6:08.27.

The women’s 400 yard medley relay team of Tate, Warren, Fitch and Smith won by 27 seconds with a time of 4:52.28. The 400 freestyle relay team of Tate, LaBadie, Stewart and Fitch won in 4:02.42 with a 15 second cushion.

MEN
Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) won the 200 freestyle in 1:51.51 with Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois) in third at 1:54.76 and  Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai’i) earning one point in 2:03.12.

McLarty also won the 500 free in 5:19.38 with Eli Wills (Blue Springs, Missouri) in second with a time of 5:31.97, Wills took second in the 200 fly in 2:20.21 while Jaydon Wilbon (Crown Point, Indiana) was fourth in 2:48.95.

Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:26.32 while Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) took fourth in 2:37.97. Coyne also took second in the 400 IM at 4:54.53 with Main in third at 5:16.43.

Freshman Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana) took second in the 50 freestyle in 22.76 with Kennon in fourth at 24.27. Youcan was also second in the 100 free in 51:09 with Kennon in third at 51.32.

Bridgford was second in the 200 backstroke in 2:17.80.  Jaeden Peters (Greenfield, Indiana) took second in the 1650 freestyle in 21:01.16.

The men’s 400 freestyle relay team of Kennon, Wills, Youvan and McLarty won in 3:32.79 The men’s 400 medley relay team of Bridgford, Coyne, McLarty and Youvan took second in 3:50.48.

The Scots are back in action next Saturday at Millikin.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Julie Edwards and Abby Stevens each posted victories for the Illinois College women’s swimming team in its dual against Monmouth on Saturday at the Coultas Natatorium.

The Fighting Scots won the dual, 126.5-60.5

Edwards earned her victory in the 400-yard IM, touching the wall in 5:17.26 while Stevens was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:49.41.

Stevens also took second in the 1650-yard freestyle in 20:10.05 while Abbey Glaser was third in 20:33.92.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men’s swimming team won seven of the 11 events en route to a dual victory over Monmouth on Saturday at the Coultas Natatorium.

The Blueboys outpointed the Fighting Scots, 106-87, to improve their dual record to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

IC got the victory parade started when the 400-yard medley relay team of John MasiliunasScottie NicotraEli Eberle, and Nathen Trachta posted a 3:48.92.

Konnor Cartee won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 20:25.97 which was followed by Eberle touching the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.43.

Nicotra captured the 400-yard IM in 4:42.12 and Trachta followed with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.92) before Eberle posted his second individual (and third overall) victory of the day in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.22.

Masiliunas closed out the victories for IC by winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.85.
