GRANTHAM, Pa. (October 12, 2024) – Mount St. Mary’s swim and dive opened their 2024-25 dual meet schedule with a dominant win in both the men’s and women’s competition against Messiah, with the men coming out on top 144-61 and the women winning out 130-75. Several records were broken for the women’s team, including from Carmen Del Aguila.

In a dominant showing of talent, the Mount placed first in 17 of the 22 events at the meet against the Falcons. The men’s 400-Yard Medley Relay team of Jason FitchAidan GradyLiam Rooney, and Austin Toland recorded a time of 3:31.60 in the event. Toland also recorded a time of 1:46.92 in the 200-Yard Freestyle, four seconds in front of the second-place swimmer. Lucas Hancock set a time of 22.06 in the 50-Yard Freestyle and Nicholas Santorelli set a time of 55.37 in the 100-Yard Backstroke.

On the women’s side of the meet, the team of Hanna AggenChristina LazariMeghan Speicher, and Madison Murphy recorded a time of 4:02.26 in the women’s 400-Yard Medley relay, eight second in front of the second-placed Messiah relay team. Murphy also recorded a time of 2:00.36 in the 200-Yard Freestyle. Carmen Del Aguila recorded a time of 18:01.41 in the 1650-Yard Freestyle event and Theodora Kanellopoulou set a time of 25.18 in the 50-Yard Freestyle.

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University women’s swimming team dropped their season opener against Mount St. Mary’s, 130-75, on Saturday afternoon. Against a tough Division one foe, the Falcons still impressed in the pool on the afternoon. The Falcons earned 13 top three finishes on the afternoon and were led by two gold medals from Madelyn Frey. The Falcons added a second and third place finish in the two relay races.

Up next, the Falcons travel to Chester, Pa. for a triple-dual meet against Widener University, Hood College, and King’s College on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.

How It Happened
The Falcons opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Grace SchadLauren CottonErin Goudie, and Kylie Wilkinson touched the wall second with a time of 4:10.02.

Keelie Conaway opened the individual races with a silver medal in the 1650 free with a time of 19:25.37. Conaway also added a third-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:45.50.

In the next event, Kylie Wilkinson earned the silver in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.08. Wilkinson added another silver medal in the 500 free with a time of 5:35.69.

The Falcons continued to finish in the top three with Kendal Wilson touching the wall third in the 50 free with a time of 26.28

The Falcons had a couple of strong races in the 200 IM and the 100 breast. Madelyn Frey finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.84 and Lauren Cotton finished in third with a time of 2:24.00. Frey and Cotton both finished first and third in the 100 breast with Frey swimming a time of 1:11.83 and Cotton swimming a time of 1:13.86.

The Falcons continued to have strong finished in the pool. In the 100 fly, Erin Goudie finished second with a time of 1:02.78 and Lauren Mock finished third with a time of 1:07.18.

In the next event, Grace Schad finished with a bronze in the 100 free with a time of 56.86. Schad added a silver medal in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.86.

The Falcons finished off the meet with a bronze medal in the 200 free. The team of Hailey FeganMakayla YelletsKendal Wilson, and Lauren Mock touched the wall third with a time of 1:48.52.

In a challenging matchup against the division one school, the Falcons still saw PJ Cronauer earn two gold medals and Sage Sobek earn two silver medals in individual events. The Falcons earned a bronze in both of the relay races.

The Falcons opened the meet with a bronze medal in the 400 medley relay. The relay team of Mitch DiFanteNathan BookDylan Yellets, and Ben Clarke finished in third with a time of 4:01.17.

The Falcons started strong in the first individual event with a gold medal finish from PJ Cronauer in the 1650 free with a time of 17:47.61. Cronauer also touched the wall first in the 500 free with a time of 5:04.93.

In the next event, Sage Sobek finished in second in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.89. Sobek also added a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 50.38.

Connor Fleming added a third-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.72.

The falcons finished strong in the individual races with a first and third-place finish in the 100 breast. Nathan Book finished in first with a time of 1:03.37 and Will Russell touched the wall third with a time of 1:21.22.

The Falcons finished the meet with a bronze medal in the 200 free relay. The team of Nathan BookPJ CronauerDylan Yellets, and Sage Sobek finished in third with a time of 1:35.13.
