Chad Le Clos of South Africa is entered in the men’s 100m butterfly for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris but he may not be diving in at 100%.
The 32-year-old multi-Olympic medalist told Reuters recently that he is suffering from a muscle injury heading into his fourth Olympic Games.
Veteran Le Clos introduced himself to the world at the 2012 Olympic Games in London where he beat American icon Michael Phelps in the 200m butterfly. He also claimed 100m fly silver there.
Le Clos followed up with 200m free and 100m fly silvers in Rio 4 years later before coming up short in Tokyo 3 years ago.
The 100m butterfly event will see Le Clos pitted against the likes of Hungarian Kristof Milak, Canadian Josh Liendo, American Caeleb Dressel and more when the event comes to pass beginning on Friday, August 2nd.
Le Clos enters Paris as an outside shot, currently ranked outside the top 30 athletes in the world this season.
