Fly and Free Specialist Caroline Cancelmo Commits To Penn For 2025-26

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Caroline Cancelmo has announced her verbal commitment to further her academic and athletic career at the University of Pennsylvania, beginning in the fall of 2025. Cancelmo, a Seattle native, currently attends Lakeside High School and swims year-round with the Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at the University of Pennsylvania! I am so grateful for my family, friends, coaches, and teammates and their endless support throughout this process. A special thank you to all of the coaches at Penn for this incredible opportunity. Go Quakers!!”

Cancelmo swims a wide range of events across butterfly, freestyle, and IM. In 2022, she qualified for Summer Juniors in the 100m fly with a time of 1:02.36, which still stands as her personal best today. So far this season she’s been as fast as 1:03.80, a time she set in prelims at Speedo Sectionals this past March.

In the fall, Cancelmo represented her high school at the Washington High School State Championships (3A). She dropped half a second in the 200 free to hit a best time of 1:51.50 in finals, good for 3rd overall. Her second individual event was the 100 fly, where she stopped the clock at 56.10 to take 4th. Both of her swims marked an improvement from this meet in 2022, both in terms of time and place.

Highlighting Cancelmo’s summer so far was the Mel Zajac Jr. International meet hosted in Canada. Her top events were the 800m free (9:34.08) and 400m IM (5:10.86), where she finished 14th and 16th, respectively, in season best times. She also notched a season best in the 50m fly with a 29.47 in finals.
