Brooks Stays In-State, Commits to Georgia

William “Powell” Brooks has decided to stay within his own state for college.  He will make the drive down the road from Atlanta to Athens to swim for Jack Bauerle at the University of Georgia.

Brooks currently swims at the Johns Creek Site of SwimAtlanta under coach Jeff Hike.  He is a US Open qualifier in both the 500 Freestyle and 200 Butterfly with times of 4:24.61/1:47.41 respectively.   He also qualified for the 2013 World Championships Trails in the LCM 200 fly with a time of 2:03.15.

He will look to add to the Bulldogs depth and look to be one of the main Butterfliers on the team as they only put 1 swimmer in the Finals of the 200 Butterfly at last years SEC Championships.  The Bulldogs have been known for producing great Butterfliers such as Mark Dylla and Gil Stovall.  Brooks will look to add his name to that list.
