Sprinter Mishka Little Announces Commitment To Western Colorado (2023)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Mishka Little of Fort Collins, Colorado, has announced her commitment to swim and study at Western Colorado University this upcoming fall. Little attends Fort Collins High School, and trains year-round with Fort Collins Area Swim Team (FAST).

I chose Western because they have an amazing academic program and a really awesome swim team. I wanted to be a part of it and loved how close the school and athletics work together!

Little is primarily a sprint freestyler with a range from the 50 to 200. She recently competed at Sectionals in Federal Way, where she earned a 66th-place finish in the 100 free in a personal best time of 52.70. She also raced the 200 free (1:57.70) and 100 breast (1:09.12), with her 100 breast marking a personal best by over a second.

This spring she qualified for the Colorado High School State Championships (5A). Individually, she placed 23rd in the 100 free (54.22) and 29th in the 200 free (1:59.19), both just off her personal bests. She also anchored her team’s 200 medley relay in 24.57, bringing her team to an 8th-place finish.

Western Colorado University,  located in Gunnison, Colorado, and is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). In her second year at the helm of the program, head coach Vickie Fellows led the team to a 4th place finish at the RMAC Championships.

It took a 24.72 and a 53.80 to advance to the B-final at this year’s meet, meaning Little is just barely outside of scoring range with her current times. Leading the sprinters this season for Western Colorado was freshman Makenna Lambert, who finished 8th at conference in 52.67. Senior Addi O’Donnell was the top performer in the 50, swimming a 24.54 to place 13th overall.

With her commitment, Little joins Sophia Del Rosario, Zoe Wolfe, and Halee Evans in the Mountaineers’ incoming class of 2027. The class swims a variety of different events, with Del Rosario focusing on longer distances, Wolfe swimming fly and IM, and Evans taking the breaststroke events.
